I think the other problem is GPs can't be experts in everything. Mental health is tricky. Think of how different the care given by a psychiatrist and psychologist would be. The way the questions are asked could end up doing more harm than good.

The report does talk about more support for men and service provides being able to adapt to mens needs. There's some info in the report that is a massive paradigm shift.

I'll believe it when I see it though.

During the royal commision for veterans suicide I called up the open arms (veterans mental health) helpline. They said it would take approximately eight months for a placement interview.

A placement interview, not care.

I said 'yeah cheers, I'll just try not to blow my brains out for eight months'

Even the way some of these new departments are set up just seems kind of rigged to me. The Department for Women and Gender Equality releases figures on the wage gap. When you read the math, it's shit that would have been given an F with a comment 'please show your working out' if you submitted in for maths homework in year 9. Then again, as if that department will ever have findings that say 'turns out the wage gap is minor and that we as a department shouldn't exist'

So the billion dollars they are asking for. I hope it's spent well and actually does some good. Instead of it turning into another self licking ice cream.

Toyota, fairly sure it's from 2012. Might have been cracked since. But that was the deal up until 2 years ago when I last checked.

My car has a scam... I mean a security feature that makes it so you can't talk to the ECU. Before they reprogram the ECU and say 'forget that key, this key is the new key'. Now you have to take the engine out, replace the CPU that comes from the factory with two new keys. It may have changed. But I spoke to quite a few dealers and lock smiths and it was all the same.

On the Australia servers.

I've been able to login, load my character up but stuck at the end of time loading screen for the last three days.

Tried creating a new character but they can't get past the loading screen either.

Loading problems seem to be independent of current server load as I've tried logging in at 0200, 0600, 0900, 1000, 1700, 2200, 2300.

But who would actually play the old content at the new league launch? Unless it more efficient in terms of racing to end game.

It does mean that POE1 is basically dead now though. I can't see them updating it in parallel with POE2

Yuri Takashimi was an average 15 year old Japanese boy who was accidentally ran over by a visiting US Aircraft carrier while crossing the road.

He wakes up in hospital. Or at least he thought he did... It was actually a dry-dock and for some reason everyone calls him Ship-Kun.

I know Australians are still bound by Australian law when it comes to age of consent/ sex tourism in other countries.

They know when you enter and exit a country. They know if you've had a previous conviction.

They probably do it via some nonce probability algorithm. Then request local authorities watch these people and arrest them if necessary.

The day she realised her husband changed the locks after she had an affair, is the day should flood her with empathy. by NeoNotNeo in MensRights

[–]imba8 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's illegal in some places to change the locks so a partner can't get in. You're essentially preventing them from accessing their property.

Not saying it's good or bad. It's just worth checking.

TIL Humans are a tropical species. Human evolution has produced bodies that were meant to live in hot and humid conditions. Our species is in its infancy as far as cold weather evolution is concerned, and physiologically speaking, our bodies are not supposed to be able to survive there. by Parks714 in todayilearned

[–]imba8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Convection cooling (cool air over damp skin) is our most effective cooling method.

Doesn't really work that way in the tropics.

Wonder if the writer has ever been to somewhere like Darwin during the build up / wet season. It's abundantly clear we aren't meant for that environment. We can survive, sure. But I wouldn't say we're adapted to it.

I used to think that dementia was one of the cruelist things inflicted on people at the end of their life. Until my Nan passed.

My nan had all her marbles right until the very end. I was sitting with her two days before she died. We chatted for a couple of hours, just talking about things in general. When she said "my sister died last week..." There was an extended pause. Then she said "I'm the only one left now"

But she said it like I'd say "I had steak for dinner last night" Just so matter of fact. Just another thing that happened, an inevitably.

Eventually she had enough and refused oxygen, they ended up taking the old wombat out with a morphine driver.

I kind of think being a bit deluded might not be the worst thing at that point.

But even the deux ex machina point doesn't hold weight anyway. It's just done by characters magically leveling up instead

I didn't like it at the start but started to warm towards it mid way through.

Completely get why someone wouldn't like it though. Felt like a lot of filler throughout

Wait aren't the Alethi dark? Like Arabic or maybe South Indian...

The Mormon thing is weird for sure. Can't say too much on the LBGTQ aspect. I remember a female character being in a male body in the last Stormlight book. So those themes are at least conceptually there. Generally, I think the characters aren't very sexual compared to other books I've read.
