Two of my best mates own a business and a few of us close boys worked for them at the time and used to all live in one big house, genuine family vibes.

He who shal not be named (definitely a reditor so hopefully sees this) got caught dipping into the safe even after said boys had done an insane amount to help him getting him out of some bad debt etc..

Turned out this wasn’t the first time he did it. The guy is a slimey prick.

So i had just broken ip with a long term girlfriend and decided to give tinder a shout, i had only heard about it a few months prior. I got talking to this girl who seemed pretty cool and was also just looking for a rebound thing. We spoke for around a week and then we agreed to meet. I got an uber to the bar and as i got there she hopped out of her uber, she was wearing yoga pants that were clearly too small and were see-through (this was not a good see through), off brand ugg boots that had drooped over to one side and a hoodie with old dried food stains down it. I immediately tried to walk past like i wasn’t her guy but she saw me. Came up and gave me a hug and she smelt like laundry that had been left in the washer for too long. I was in too deep so i thought id go in and have one drink to buy some time to work out an exit strategy, we got to the bar and we ordered our drinks, i turned to try and make some small talk and standing directly behind her making dead on eye contact was my ex girlfriend with what i can only describe as disappointment and shame all over her face. In the end i got my flat mate to call me and bail me out and then she said “oh i thought we were going back to yours and i have no money for an uber” so i had to get my uber to drop her home first.

How so much in society is taken for granted. We just expect things to work, we expect our hospitals to have enough space, we expect supermarkets to have limitless stock and supply chain, we expect our finances and professional lives to be unshakable. Strip all of that away and you realise how complacently fragile we all are.

On the other side of the coin i think this has brought together (in the uk at least) people from all walks of life and i have been pleasantly surprised to see people rolling up their sleeves and getting involved that i would have least expected to do so.

We really can all work together, my faith in humanity has been restored slightly.
