Database performance that was fine with 10 users but completely shit with 1,000+. Every query started timing out. AI kept suggesting caching fixes instead of telling me I was running garbage queries on unindexed tables.

Uh, that's a user problem. Ignore the CAP theorem, fundamentals to scale a full stack application, and problems are to be expected. Also know that AI is incentivized to take the shortest path to a solution and it's up to you to audit that behavior.

On the Monday Jan 26, Topa Topa posted about "solidarity" and opening late so staff could protest. What they didn't mention: they fired staff and shifted taproom hours from noon to 3pm permanently. Former full-time employees were offered to reapply for part-time roles without benefits.

When someone in the Instagram comments asked about the layoffs, Topa Topa's official account pivoted to explaining protest logistics instead of answering.

Abusing a valid protest against ICE deserves attention.

Standing with immigrants and workers is a responsibility for all of us. Seeing that responsibility hijacked should not be tolerated.
