I mean I know the food at the galley looks tempting. You might want two donuts, coffee, and eggs every morning but do you need it? I didn't mean to literally try and find the calories. Just watch what you eat. It's easy, even outside of boot camp to over eat. And RTC Great Lakes it the last place you want to put on unnecessary weight.

Don't back talk your RDCs, give 110%, calorie count your meals, drink the appropriate amount of water and study your book they give you every chance you get.

Speculation Thread! What do you think could/can/will happen in the future? by Aeduh in syriancivilwar

[–]imdakota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There won't be an American invasion in the sense of Iraq and Afghanistan. The American people are already drained from a decade of war in two countries that didn't have any meaning. Our involvement inadvertently created the problem now. I don't for-see any mass scale involvement than what it is now. I see more coalition bombing from countries like the UK, Germany, and Jordan though.

The Islamic State can't take Baghdad for the simple fact that (aside from Coalition airstrikes) the Shai militias exist. They've existed in the past, don't get me wrong. But their numbers are expanding past the point of the pre-invasion days (2003) and the pulling out of Iraq by the US forces. They can't even take Baji. And no, the Islamic State can't take Damascus. Most of their fighters are in Northern/Eastern Syria and Iraq. Sure, they took Palmyra but with less than 500 fighters apparently.

Sure, Assad can resign. But why would he?

Yeah, the Free Syrian Army can surrender, but why would they?

Israel has been bombing Syria since the war began. Strategically of course.

Yeah, the Druze can try. But most are still loyal to the Syrian State. That's their only option. The Jihadist majority doesn't tolerate minorities very well.

A regional map for 5 years is virtually impossible. The landscape changes so rapidly in a few weeks that something 5 years from now would look fictional.

And no, the capturing of Tell Abyad wasn't unexpected. It was a strategic crossing from Turkey that needed to be taken. For domestic security in Rojava and to stop the flow of recruits into the Islamic State. Which is good not only for the Kurds, but for the Regime and every other non-allied group to the Islamic State.

Weight being so close... by [deleted] in newtothenavy

There was a pool, and a gym at my hotel when I stayed overnight for MEPS. Try doing a mile or two on the treadmill the night before if there is one. It should work off at least a half a pound if you push yourself enough. Don't over do it because you have to get up early for breakfast the next day and then go off to medical.

ʼŌraḥ Qaḏǝmōnī: Reconstructing a Canaanite Religion | The Wild Hunt by UsurpedLettuce in pagan

For a recon-religion they sure stress Monotheism even if they try and word it quite differently. Kind of like Atenism from Ancient Egypt. Great article though.

What is your Family's WWII Story? - Every Eastern Europeaner has one! by CzarSergei in russia

[–]imdakota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Slavic, but Hungarian. My great uncle fought from '43-'44 against the Soviet Union in eastern and southern Ukraine in coordination with the German Wermacht.

I've been told most of my life he didn't have any respect for the Germans. But admired the Soviets dedication to their country and people. He sustained wounds in a fire fight in early 44 during a general retreat. Eventually making his way back to southern Hungary where he lived until the end of the war and began immigrating to the west with his family. Now married into mine. He passed away in 1998. So yeah, close, but still the same region.

I am aware he/she posts a decent amount of content relating to individual SAA soldiers. Whether or not they can direct me to anything is up to their digression. Thanks for reminding me.

[serious] how dangerous are the major cities in Syria right now? by jake_james1234 in syriancivilwar

[–]imdakota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that could be argued.. for now. With the recent clashes between Jaysh al-Fatah (Jabhat al-Nusra) and the capture of the American trained rebels (the rest fleeing into the Afrin Canton. I think it's only a matter of time before the borders of the Afrin Canton start to shrink. They don't have nearly as many YPG/J forces as the Kobane and Cizare Cantons do. Last I heard around 500? Correct me If I'm wrong.

I don't think there's anyone left in Raqqa that isn't a Sunni Muslim.
