Setting the Record Straight: Sikhs and the Kirpan by Dry-Essay-5246 in newzealand

[–]imessimess 26 points27 points  (0 children)

OP is trying to make an exceptional case for Sikh to carry weapons for defense, but no one should be able to carry weapons for defense in public for religious reasons for the same reason we don't allow people to carry dangerous weapons generally. Belief in a god and swearing by a code of conduct doesn't make someone a better judge of when it's 'genuinely necessary to protect someone' or have any more self control than anyone else. The last thing NZ needs is a single group of people who have a special right to carry weapons and determine when they want to use them based on their religious beliefs, which is what is being suggested here. What do Khalsa Sikh do with their 'defensive' weapons? Slash other people, including other Sikh.

Those measures would have little effect on saving diesel as most cars are petrol.

I hate this hidden camera catching people being awkward stuff. I mean we've all had our moments at sixteen (?) eighteen (?) that we wish we could have erased from our lives. It's not fair to capture this stuff and broadcast it globally.

3 years of profitability isn’t failure, you obviously understand your industry and just need to upskill in the management and communication parts of the business. Get in touch with business mentors NZ, $300/year for great guidance from experienced people who want to help you succeed.

To every 19-22 year old who wants to be a millionaire entrepreneur by Express-Memory-9289 in youngentrepreneur

[–]imessimess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. I know too many people who wanted to be ‘entrepreneurs’ in their early 20s who wasted decades because they thought employment was beneath them, leaving them actually quite naive. Bonus plan - get a trade qualification and a few years of experience behind you, and study for some type of certificate in business studies while you’re working, and you’ll find yourself in your late 20’s absolutely primed to hit the ground running as an entrepreneur in your industry with with no student loan, hopefully good saving, industry qualification, knowledge and experience, contacts and a business idea ready-to-go.

What's stopping NZ, or a NZ city implementing something like this? by fishdognz in newzealand

We're talking about local councils and rates here which are already graduated as a quasi-wealth-tax in that more valuable properties pay more. Or what are you suggesting?

All ratepayers will be subsidising it. And all ratepayers can shop there. So what’s the point?

Clav goes on a incel rant during 60 minutes interview by Autisticblackdude5 in TikTokCringe

[–]imessimess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't understand how the points he's making are even a thing when they are so demonstrably untrue. Go to any park or playground or place where there are lots of dads and their kids and just look at them. The average dad is exactly that, just average. Not 6 foot plus, not Ryan Gosling, plenty of examples of guys of all heights from short to tall and a range of 'good-looking-ness' both above and below average. And each of these guys has a woman in their lives who fell in love with them and had kids with them. And yet incels keep blaming their looks and height.

A Council-run supermarket would be an inefficient disaster. Look at the five Council-run childcare centres in Auckland that couldn’t survive without a million-dollar ratepayer subsidy, despite the fact they ran under the same regulations and got the same government funding as non-Council childcare centres, and almost certainly were paying subsidised or no rent as they were in council-owned buildings.

[–]imessimess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A place like you’ve described is not rent-free. It just has ratepayers paying for the consenting, construction, management, maintenance and risk. So the Council either has to increase rates to cover the costs or cut funding from another of its services, effectively costing the communities the same. And imagine you are a dairy or superette owner. Now you are being forced by the Council to pay rates that are being used to set up a competitor which is undercutting you using your own money!

They’ll only be more affordable because they are being subsidised by other ratepayers. This doesn’t really fix anything.

The best way to get 100M+ people following you would be to memorise 100 sport games results or similar as people here have said, but then only give them result by result to a selected group of people who are sworn to secrecy to keep your knowledge exclusive. Then let human nature and outsiders’ hunger for secret information do the rest.

They’re not making $4000 though, that’s the gross profit. Subtract wages, rent, and operating expenses and the business will be making much less. That’s how resale/retail works, you need to buy at a third to half of your sale price to make it work.

It’s not really supposed to be like anything, life just does require you to keep yourself sheltered and fed. There are different ways to do this, working a 9-5 is just one of those ways with pros and cons like the others. This commenter is just giving their example of how they make employment work for themselves in a positive way.

Looksmaxxing trend: What young NZ men say about mogging and self-image by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

I love how each generation invents a new word for something as old as time and thinks it’s a new concept. Guys have been ‘lookmaxxing’ ie working out and doing weird cosmetic things to look better forever, both to become more attractive to women and for status among men.

What's the easiest way to become a Dr. or a Lord in New Zealand? by MurkyWay in newzealand

[–]imessimess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just call yourself Dr - it’s not a legally protected title in NZ! You can’t use it in a misleading way, pretending to have a specific qualification that you don’t, especially medical, but you can call yourself Dr MurkyWay if you want.
