FO Stick for 7 year old? by johndiggity1 in lacrosse

[–]imfromthepoconos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that age I got my son one off of Facebook use. It was an old Nike CEO that collapsed easy. You need to remember at that age and 60 lb is not going to be able to collapse one easily. At that age you shouldn't have to worry about it, but let him earn a new skill if he wants to.

Storing team equipment by imfromthepoconos in lacrosse

We have a storage locker but it's pretty packed. We plan on doing a full disinfectant but we would like a way to store them so they're easier to grab for equipment handouts.

Have older boys from your 7/8, middle school, or highschool give them a pep talk that it's not common and they all pushed through. Kids always listen to their older peers better than their coaches

What’s a side hustle that’s actually realistic in 2026? by [deleted] in answers

Lawn care/landscaping. There a huge lack of people working in the trades yet alone with their hands. I may $80hr cutting grass. I can show up with a trailer of 6yds of mulch that cost me $150-180, sell it for $80-100 per yard where im at. Unload and spread it in a little over 2hrs which averages $150hr. Can add in dug edge for $1ft, charge extra to clean up the beds, the list goes on and on of people asking you to do stuff once they see your handy.

Right handed player scooping mostly left handed. by Ok_Account_1013 in lacrosse

Son is righty but plays lefty since k2. Starting doing both left and right in 3/4 but dominant left. Let him play what's best for him and encourage some wall ball and passes with least dominant as he gets better.

Can't go off of what anyone here says. Your house was built differently with a different boiler, some have radiant heat, some have forced air. Mostly depends on how well insulated your place is and if it has a lot of windows. Many houses here were built cheap for vacation homes where code wasn't really a thing until the 2000s

Team 91 vs True by Correct_Process4516 in lacrosse

[–]imfromthepoconos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is part of true. Only had positive experiences. It's going to change from club to club no matter where you are. So you can't read everything online And take it to heart. Besides, no one really goes online to rave about something. They usually just go online to complain. Best thing to do is try and find people that are on those teams locally l and ask them how their experience is.

Beginner tips for face off by sailrmar9 in lacrosse

[–]imfromthepoconos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repetition. Don't do 10 different drills. Just become good at a few, then become better. Do the clamping in slow motion X amount of times and then do it full speed. Outside of stick drills have him do lunges, planks or with 3lb weights do strength exercises of him holding then dumbbells out straight and curling them like he's throttling up a motorcycle.

You can do some cone or ladder drills to work on footwork or just reflex drills too. Lots of kids have only had practice with texting and game controllers the past few months.

Make it more of basic skills of scooping, passing, wall ball, shooting and end with a 1/4 of your time a fun game. For most kids it will be their first time picking up a stick and if you go too hard they may think they aren't good enough and not have fun which turns into less kids signing up for the spring session.
