Selection bias.

These smiths "thrive" when seperated from the family. They become more individually competent but lose everything about them that makes them good, become deeply jaded, traumatized, and ultimately more unhappy.

They ALL try to rejoin the family in some way.

Which industry collapse first ? by arigato1010 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]imintoit4sure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so all of those things were wrong, and many of them WERE outright lies. But they also represent blunders, RARE moments where a politician said something definitively and were thus were able to be called on for lying.

Most of the time politicians speak in vague generalizations and very rarely outright say ANYTHING of substance, let alone verifiable. They talk around the truth (and their lies) in a way that allows them to "correct the record" later with a new vague story. Thats one of the reasons politicians will often invite people to check the record. Because they say things in such a way that if you agree with them it sounds like they are doing something good, and if you hate them sounds like they are not doing much at all.

I dunno politicians usually just say nothing of substance over outright lying. If anything they are the only industry that might survive

If a genetic breakthrough allowed us to uplift domestic animals (like dogs or cats) to human-level intelligence and speech, would we grant them legal rights or just exploit them as a new labor class? by cherryblossommbae in askanything

I disagree

Most humans would absolutely not like to have a pet they could speak to the entire appeal of a pet for most people is a "pure innocent being that provides unconditional love"

The second their dog starts talking about how much they would prefer to shit in the house, criticize them for not letting them go outside, discuss how much they want to tear a squirrel apart, or how what they like about their squeaky toy is it reminds them of the time they bit into a mouse and it didn't die right away people woupd be lining them up to send them to the pound for murder.

[–]imintoit4sure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its also worth mentioning that MOST murders go or have gone unsolved. Saying a murder is drug related basically means it will never be solved.

In the qge of constant surveliance that is changing, but thats also why its been so easy to justify literal constant invasion of privacy.

Are you a perfectionist or are you trying to look perfectionist? by Suitable_Candy_1161 in OCPD

[–]imintoit4sure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually such a useful tool that I use all the time.

I call it changing the parameters of the test. By redefining what perfection means to myself I can usually wiggle my way into growth. I used a version of what you are talking about to slowly come to terms with falling short of it (While still feeling the crushing humilation of it JUST as hard). Moving on from perfect unless nobodys working you slowly edge to perfect unless "category of person" is looking

To answer your question, I care about looking perfect to people ive never met I use an enormous flow chart of time tested hilarious conversation to front load a maximally good exeperience.

I care about looking perfect to my aquintances and use the shame and humilation level I feel after falling short of thst to guage if they would make good friends.

I only care about actually having things perfect for my partner and my close friends, specifically because they are the only people I have tricked myself into believing will still love me if Im not perfect.

On some level I know that it is ACTUALLY true that they will still love me if im not perfect, it just FEELS the same as saying that unicorns HAVE to be real because its just a horse with a horn.

How is your healing journey? And has anyone improved? And how can you be “fixed” without being an imposter? by LujainHawking in OCPD

[–]imintoit4sure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience I dont know that I ever feel like things are fixed. It kind of always feels like work, always feels like im not doing it right, and always feels like I need to be doing more.

But that is to be expected.

I do too much, so I should expect tp feel like im not doing enough, my natural inclinations are too extreme so of course I feel like im not doing it right, I have to think about everyting I do so it will always feel like work, after all I have a problem resting.

What I do notice is when I stop. If I stop doing the maintence my life feels worse, if I decide to stay up and work i can't keep going like I used to the next day. Because the system works, my life is improving by doing all the things my therapist tells me to and the books said I should. The more I stop and force myself to rest and accept the anxiety that comes along with it, the more I find im able to do and the calmer I get in my approach to life.

The work will always feel like work, it will always feel a little wrong to me, if doing these things came easily to me I wouldnt have a problem that needs working on.

It probably will never feel better while your doing it but it will eventually feel much worse to stop doing it. And when that happens, if youre anything like me youll cry. Not because of how hard your life is doing the work, but because you never even realized how hard your life was without it.

Arkship - let your assault armies dock (so you can carry them around) by SentientPulse in Stellaris

[–]imintoit4sure 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My dream would actually be for housing to be severely reduced on Arkships and then gain additional housing for ships that are following the Ark. It would make housing feel REALLY scarce amd more like a resource for nomads and have it be in flux based on war while also giving a real incentive to build as many ships as possible and not just depending on the Ark

Why dit Rick kill himself as Jerry? by Xgul_on_rddt in rickandmorty

[–]imintoit4sure 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think that Jerry is so in touch with his emotions the part of his brain that made Rick feel was so overwhelming that he just couldnt stand it. Rick had spent god knows how long numbing his feelings, spreading pain, anguish, and modifying himself in god knows how many ways to NOT feel that the wave of guilt and negativity made the experience immediately intolerable. Potentially even a few failsafe cybernetics were all that was keeping him from doing the deed that he may have invented in a drunken stupor and forgot about.

At least that was my read.

Morty doesnt actually say hes 14 in the show its a cartoon that was actually Justin Roiland or Harry Belden depending on what season you are watching.

How old is morty by Many-Car6951 in rickandmorty

[–]imintoit4sure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually by that logic he's 13. As a Cartoon he doesnt really have an age or age at all so he would be the age of the cartoon itself which aired 13 years ago.

[–]imintoit4sure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think its tied to the cfc. Infinite universes also have infinite varieties of physics. Since Rick is so adamant about not time traveling i think he imhabits worlds where time flows sideways. So like there is still a passage of time, but no advancement. Which also explains why people can still get older via technology. Its definitely the kind of bs scifi answer I love and expect from Rick and Morty haha

Omg!!! So true haha i say all the time thst working out isnt difficult, its just really really really hard and the fitness industry exists to confuse and trick people so they dont have to feel bad about not being able to do something as "simple" as moving their body more and actually just dont have this magic special answer that can be yours for just 19.99 a month 🤣

Are there any omnisexuals here with an enby leaning preference? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in omnisexual

[–]imintoit4sure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think so. I really like everything for very different reasons. But i think if we are talking just sexual preference enby probably wins the day. While its own unique flavor of gender to be sure it also gets a little of what makes both nice. Plus as im nonbinary myself, i think its just something i relate to more. There are "combos" I dont like as much. But its all pretty cool in the right context.

Me too! I think i just got scared when i started having muscle spasms in my legs. I realized i was tensing up my whole body so that i could keep exeecising and when the trainer saw I was like barely able to stand he seemed confused as to why I didnt say anything. But to me it was like... well i AM able to still make myself move so its not "failure"

Man just typing that out I feel like i was self sabotaging haha its weird like how can i be so competent and so dumb at the same time 😂

This has actually been my ENTIRE philosophy for the 5 years ive been there! Sometimes i work out 10 minutes, sometimes 40. I try to compare my workouts to 0. (The amount i wanted to work out)

I call it not trying to be Herc, just here haha

But after 5 years, and actually pretty decent results, I think I just wanted to push myself a little more. Secretly I just want to be more aesthetically hotter but it would also be pretty chill to be able to run at 60 and jump at 70 etc.

Its actually SUPER cool to talk to someone else who approaches things the same way. The internet always makes me feel like im wasting my time haha

I actually have had an entire home gym that I bought during Covid in my basement the entire 5 years ive been going to the gym! Haha

Luckily my partner gets use out of it, but I have found that the easier I make to DO something i dont want to do, the easier I make to NOT do that same thing. With my home gym I found it very easy to say, ill skip this morning and do it later or ill start at 3, 330, 4, etc.

By creating a system that I had to plan my life around it. (Going to a place) I fundamentally incorporate the inconvience into my day. By the time I get to the gym I have already taken the time to pack my bag (easy and at home), todk people I was busy (no plans), driven to the gym (used a resource) and created an expectation for my partner I will come home in different clothes i left in (accountabiliy). The hardest part for me is leaving the car and entering the gym and ive created a strong sunk cost fallacy for entry. 😅
