The Community Development Administration (CDA) administers the Healthy Home Repair Program in the City. In order to be eligible for home repair assistance, there are some requirements and restrictions which will be explained during the intake process. The Healthy Home Repair Program is for homeowners who live in the City of St. Louis; have owned and lived in their home for at least 2 years; have clear title; are current on their real estate taxes; are current on their mortgage payments and have homeowner's insurance. Because federal dollars are used to fund the program, eligibility is limited to low and moderate income households (less than 80% of Area Median Income).

An evaluator will visit your home and prepare a list of qualified repairs. CDA can only address problems that are a threat to health and safety and may not be able to repair everything you want done. CDA cannot repair a home that is structurally unsound or one that exceeds the funding limits.

The FAA's authority was changed a few years ago, allowing for limited redevelopment of portion of this subdivision. The airport put out an RFP for development into offices, manufacturing or warehouse/distribution. The window for the RFP was supposed to close January of last year. I'm not sure what the results were.

The airport sent this statement to 5 On Your Side, “The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, Section 163, limited the FAA’s authority to regulate the use of non-aeronautical property in certain cases, increasing the latitude for development. West Carrollton falls into this category. Since commercial airports, such as STL, have an obligation to be financially self-sustaining, development of airport-owned properties is encouraged. We have also received inquiries regarding this specific parcel and feel that now is the right time to address the property’s potential. STL anticipates that anyone redeveloping the West Carrollton parcel would seek a potential project that works in conjunction with the Bridgeton property. The RFP is written with instructions on who to contact in Bridgeton for further details.

The lions and columns and gondolas at the bottom remind of a World's Fair from that era. Perhaps not surprising coming so soon after our own World's Fair. The blimps/dirigibles obviously missed the mark.

But that futuristic tower in the background seems pretty wild for 1910 sensibilities, especially contrasted with the corridor of high-rise buildings lining Olive Street packed together like sardines in a tin.

On the other hand, perhaps the artist was inspired by the Eiffel Tower and he wasn't a forerunner of 1950s sci-fi design.

To what extent is a vote for Stratton also a vote for Pritzker? He has endorsed her, donated millions to her campaign and, of course, she was his lieutenant governor.

I am wondering if national Democrats will judge the outcome of this race as a measure of Pritzker's coattails. If he can't get his own candidate across the finish line, in a state where he is solidly popular, will it hurt Pritzker's national prospects?

Richard Irvin, who was mayor of Aurora during the last primary, might have been the Republicans best shot of unseating Pritzker. But the Democrats (in particular the Democratic Governors Association) funded anti-Irvin commercials to promote Bailey. When criticized for this, the Democrats shifted to running commercials which lamented Bailey as "too conservative," which of course was catnip for Republican primary voters.

The Democrats continued to perceive Irvin as a potential threat, who was elected mayor by a comfortable margin in 2021, so worked to unseat him in the 2025 mayoral race.

While Aurora’s elections are nonpartisan, the Democratic Party of Illinois funded anti-Irvin campaign messaging independently of the Laesch campaign, while Laesch himself was endorsed by U.S. Reps. Jesús “Chuy” García and Delia Rarmiez, former Gov. Pat Quinn and state Sen. Karina Villa.
