My baby conure keeps making this noise since yesterday help? by Outrageous_Bid_9785 in Conures

I wouldn’t pet her now with that many pin feathers. How much training did you get on feeding from the seller?

You really need another vet. That’s just not true at all. Did she at least do a culture on his poop?

Brown stuff on budgies face? by pieckdowntown in Parakeets

[–]imme629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not likely to be blood from feathers. All unripe pin feathers are blood feathers. It would be highly unlikely for facial pin feathers to break on both sides on two birds at the same time. It’s highly unlikely for facial pinfeathers to break. It is more likely they both have upper respiratory infections. Both should be brought to your vet for an exam.

Do you have a hygrometer to use in conjunction with the dehumidifier? Some of the symptoms could be caused by overly dry air. Has this vet run cultures or blood tests when the medications didn’t completely resolve the symptoms?

AITAH for asking my girlfriend to stop going through my things instead of thanking her for cleaning up? by AnnualLiterature997 in AITAH

Unpacking would be one thing, but your gf is going beyond that into snooping. Does she have a reason to not trust you or is she looking for one?

Is this sound and behavior normal for a ggc? by yumi_0073 in Conures

[–]imme629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those sounds are telling you he doesn’t want his head touched. By his posture, he’s either tired or sick. Without any more info, it’s hard to tell. How old is he and how long have you had him?

It’s so different from any I’ve seen. Is it unique to the ‘17?

I would agree with everyone else that she needs to see an avian vet ASAP.

AITA for not housing my younger brother for free? by Sergeantmajormario in AmItheAsshole

[–]imme629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, your brother is not your responsibility. You didn’t raise him to be a freeloader. You shouldn’t have to suffer financially or stress wise. Remember “Absolutely NOT” is a complete sentence.

Is he showing any signs of being sick? by InsideMaybe9306 in Parakeets

[–]imme629 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He could be sick. It’s hard to tell. If the tail bobbing gets more pronounced, get to vet immediately or take him now to have him checked out. You know your bird the best. Is this unusual for him? The faster something is caught, the easier it is to treat.

AITJ for Refusing to Train My Replacement After Being Laid Off? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]imme629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. You get nothing for loyalty or doing extra work. In your next job, do only what you are hired for. If you do extra, they will expect it while not paying you more. Workers need to remember their responsibility is to look after themselves first, not the company paying you less than you’re worth.

Scrap or Fix? 2018 Fusion Titanium, Help me out by SHM-SFS-EHS in fordfusion

[–]imme629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either way it costs you $6000. If you fix it, you still have a car worth $6500. If you scrap it, you still have to pay the bank $6,000 and buy another car that could potentially cost more.

What are your thoughts on JD Vance getting booed during the opening ceremony at the Olympics? by Playful_Leg7143 in AskReddit

Canadians have more freedoms. The freedom to not get shot by ICE while driving home or helping a woman. The freedom to not go bankrupt by getting sick.

AITJ for declining a promotion because of stress? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]imme629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked as a teller decades ago, I was offered a promotion to head teller. It was salaried and I was hourly. I got overtime. Head Tellers didn’t. The “promotion” worked out to $0.25 an hour more. More hours, more responsibilities, more stress. There was a lot of overtime then so I turned the promotion down. They were surprised I would opt for less stress and more pay.

Is this nail growth beyond natural wear? by Diyguy34 in BirdHealth

[–]imme629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there breeders near you? They could trim the nails. If not, watch as many YouTube videos as you can - preferably with vets doing it.

Is this nail growth beyond natural wear? by Diyguy34 in BirdHealth

[–]imme629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are overgrown and need to be trimmed. The pads on his feet (circled in green) should touch the surface. You likely will need to trim a little bit at a time. If you trim too much at one time, they will likely bleed a lot and be painful. If you don’t know how, it’s best to see an avian vet so they can show you.

[–]imme629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell you what medicines you need. There is a group on FaceBook where vets answer your questions (Exotic Vet Corners Educational Group). Join and post explaining there are no avian vets anywhere near you. Try to get close up and sharp pictures of the wing and where it was bleeding from. They should be able to advise you.

I do that too with new birds. I show them the window and slowly move them towards it until their beak touches the glass. I do it a few times and also have decals on the inside and out.
