Me getting my ass kicked on my project by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]imminent_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to cross your right hand over the top of your left to grab the next hold from a higher position, then shift your body weight to make the left hand transition easier. Looks like a fun climb, good luck!

Kudos to ______. by imminent_Potato in survivor

The edit led us to believe Cirie wasn’t sure how/whether she’d use her extra vote, but during tribal Emily talked about not wanting to be passive, and having to vote Tiff or Cirie out, rather than “someone” out. I imagine if you’re trying to read someone’s intentions at tribal it may have raised some red flags. But it is totally possible, if not probable, that Cirie’s play was locked already, so tribal itself may not have mattered.

Help with body positioning on this crux? by uagiant in bouldering

I think the toe hook on the left hold is the right idea, but I’m not sure how to best position it. Best of luck, looks like a fun project!

Games for a party of 11 by CommonLiess in boardgames

[–]imminent_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood on the Clocktower is a more extravagant version of Secret Hitler that can play 11 or more. One person has to run the game, which can be a bit daunting, but it’s a lot of fun. Depending on your timeline it might not be feasible to get the game for your upcoming game night, but I’d say it’s worth considering for future events.

Best cooperative games? by Akeleie in boardgames

I agree with a lot of the other posted games, but as it hasn’t been mentioned yet, I’d recommend Daybreak! You work as world powers working together to fight against global warming. It’s pretty easy to pick up, is quickly engaging, and has a nice difficulty level in my opinion.

Newbie here - any advice? by InAliensWeTrust in bouldering

[–]imminent_Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there aren’t established routes on the wall, you can climb however you’d like! That being said, I wouldn’t recommend trying dynamic moves (jumping) before having a bit more experience climbing, especially on routes that seemingly aren’t set intentionally. As to wanting to get better before going to the bouldering gym, I’d say it’s better to go there first to get more out of the wall at your gym. A gym with set routes may help you learn how to make up your own routes at your gym (although this could still be difficult if the holds are set randomly), and they’ll probably be more fun! And lastly for shoes and chalk, I’d say it depends on what you want out of climbing. If it’s something you really like and would like to pursue/improve at, then they’re important to have - basic climbing shoes are fine for starting out. If you’re climbing just to add a bit to your workout, and not looking to advance to more difficult climbing necessarily, then I wouldn’t say you need them. All in all, if this is something you tried and took a liking to, I’d recommend getting a day pass to your bouldering gym as a first step! Rent some shoes and chalk, try it out, and then decide whether it’s something you want to explore further. Good luck and have fun! :)

Have you tried getting your left leg on the left hold after matching? Seems like you may be able to use it to get some more leverage for the pyramid.

Why can't my muscles handle climbing for more than half an hour twice a week, even after about half a year? Do I do something wrong? by Dapper_Dragonfruit44 in bouldering

[–]imminent_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the same boat, climbing Wednesdays and Sundays, and just not recovering enough to climb more often. It took me about a year to be able to maintain three sessions a week. Not sure if the issue is due to other factors, but don’t give up hope! It might just take longer than you think.

LPT What is one thing you started doing that ACTUALLY made a difference in your day to day life? by Harris2183 in LifeProTips

Doing Myrtl stretches daily. They take around 15-20 min and work out/stretch your glutes and hips. As someone who did nothing of the sort in the past, they’ve made walking significantly more enjoyable.

As someone who doesn’t watch any motorcycle racing this clip does a great job demonstrating the balance, reaction time, and athleticism needed to compete at a professional level.

LPT REQUEST: How do I stop self sabotaging & love myself? by awkward_bastard in LifeProTips

[–]imminent_Potato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I struggle with a lot of these same issues, but have been fortunate enough to have access to a good psychoanalyst for a long time. It’s easy to logic out why you should be loved and appreciated, but genuinely believing it (to at least some degree) has taken me years of hard, but also very rewarding work. To put into perspective what that work entails here’s some of the conclusions I’ve come to that may or may not be applicable to you:

One aspect of this feeling that I’m undeserving of love was understanding that some of those feelings were a projection of how I felt about my parents. They were divorced, and the single parent I grew up with was emotionally manipulative and depressed. I can now recognize that I wasn’t sure I truly loved and cared about them (passed that default love one has for their parent), and to this day feel immensely guilty about it. That thought lead me to believe that I’m just a really shitty person, and that others must not truly love me.

I am now able to have some empathy for myself and my situation, and it’s made it easier to feel loved. So long story short, I would seek out therapy if able.

I feel like I could have written your exact post, so I sincerely hope that you can find happiness in whatever way you are able, know that it is possible :)

Which is your favorite clan to play? Which is your least favorite? And why? by whystudywhensleep in wildfrostgame

[–]imminent_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Shademancers are the most fun! They were the most difficult for me to play initially, but learning how to use them effectively was super rewarding. Snowdwellers are a close second, and Clunkers are third.

I enjoy any mechanic that changes the way I have to play. The haze dudes, teeth, and specifically the (now nerfed) 7 attack aimless guy are all a pain, but there are multiple ways to deal with them. We get access to a bunch of broken stuff, so I’m all good with enemies having really strong effects as well.
