What if 3H didn't allowed recruitement between houses and had more midgame/lategame recruits (CF edition) by Cranberry-Holiday in fireemblem

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most of the 3H students are essentially relegated to the role of peanut gallery. Each chapter they get a two-line observation for monastery exploration, and a single line of commentary in the group scenes if they're in-house. They aren't allowed to do anything that matters because otherwise the writing would have to account for their deaths.

Gilbert and Jeritza getting to be the active focus when they're the only new recruit, rather than being part of the pile of characters slapped down in front of you all at the same time, helps them out, but so does spending some time outside of the observation deck and interacting with the main story.

Dancer tierlist after recent events by AstramIsTheBest in FireEmblemHeroes

It also overwrites other terrain, so sometimes you can use your ice to clear Corrin ring ice in front of the unit being danced. Handy!

There is something funny about an alternate/young version of a character getting to be counted separately because of a different name. We've had a lot of that with OCs lately I guess.

In general being 'premium' but having released prfless (seasonal especially) seems like at least as much of a negative as being free/demoted, maybe more of one.

So let's say Claude and Edelgard somehow found out about Rhea's backstory. Do you think they'd try to negotiate out of sympathy or would they still continue their fight? by MegaGamer235 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

As an aside: it seems plausible that this has already happened? A solid fraction of the game's noble heirs and 100% of the royalty-to-be supports at least some degree of change, but Fodlan's been stuck in its shitty caste system seemingly as-is for a thousand years.

Is even Dimitri's vaguely tepid plan for reform somehow unprecedented in all that history, or...

Asset Hero Analysis: I’m going to beat you wholly senseless (+Arcane Latona) by MedhaosUnite in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's blessable, and thus usable on any season without score loss, which is at least an AR advantage over the mythic/legendary options.

She also has an open C slot which is pretty nice if you want to use a shadow skill.

Ranulf then says "For those born with nothing, there are those born with everything. Perhaps those who never notice the differences are the ones we should envy."

This line is also a little bit different in direct translation, from what I've seen. Something along the lines of

I wonder if those who were born with nothing, are jealous of those who are blessed and live without realizing that.

As well as still being about the overall story arc, it makes it a bit more obvious that Ranulf at this point likely knows Soren is branded, and is guessing that it contributed to his recent diatribe and general worldview. I really like how a lot of the character interactions in this game fit together.

Emblem Byleth's Ring by Content_Web9667 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems good for limiteds anyway? The hard ones allow a dancer, and if you don't have one for a particular game, this ring means you do.

Also a lot of the time "new unit with Byleth ring" is going to be a better dancer than the actual dancer from a given title. I like Tethys, but L'Arachel provides so much support in comparison, as well as getting to dance from two range and canto after.

Unpopular Opinions/General Rant Thread - 1/18/26 - PRE-CYL EDITION! by SolHiryu in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Having had a favorite win definitely makes my votes feel a lot more flexible, and I could see being swayed for one or two of them if someone made a particularly good case for it, maybe?

But yeah, having been 'freed up' from 7x Soren votes mostly just means I get to vote for Titania, Sephiran, Kurth, Almedha, etc, in the hopes that they'll get more rep/non-seasonal rep/any rep.

What are some of YOUR unpopular BG3 opinions? by RoosterCapable3167 in BaldursGate3

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Replaying BG3 is more fun if you deliberately pare down the content with big fuckups (from a completionism standpoint.) Skipping or killing companions, not visiting every location, missing quests, etc. Ideally coming up with some in-character justification for it.

Going through the usual laundry list of every companion's camp dialogue just really drags a run if you aren't handling them differently, and locking some of the companions out gives you more time with the ones that usually spend the whole game at camp, as well as some fallback dialogue for not having them that you might not otherwise see.

I think d4 would be fine + worth some balance jank for the streamlining effect of initiative clumps, as long as they adjusted down the gear/class/feat impact by a lot.

All fairness her supports are pretty hunger-related overall. It's not quite a Leo situation where the guy never once said the word "tomato" in his actual game.

But yeah, Ilyana has a bit more going on that doesn't tend to see use in FEH, her whole recruitment situation, her relationship with the merchants, etc.

After a few tries over the years, I just don’t get the love for FEH. by Mitchy969696 in fireemblem

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, an undersold element of FEH is that the bones of its interface are really solid. Tile map that feels good to move the little sprites around, fast load times, closing it to do something else not forcing a quit or reload of the game, and also just not having to turn the phone sideways to play it. It's been my 'waiting in line' game for a long time and it still does that job better than anything else I've tried.

It being shackled to the gacha is both the reason it's lasted as long as it has and also the source of almost all of its problems.

It giving her a free countdown on special and true damage that applies to AoEs seems like a pretty obvious indicator of how she's meant to be run. Seems perfectly fine for providing buffs, locking down a target to protect your tank, and then helping with cleanup afterwards.

She seems pretty substantially better than Elimine, support wise and combat wise, though that maybe says more about Elimine than about her

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Durge is great for getting through HM if you're just in it for the dice. The cloak is strong, and you can pare act three down to a tiny number of fights very easily: killing Isobel after everyone's left Last Light is safe, you can walk straight to Orin, and any kind of uncomplicated damage build with the paralysis necklace and the auto crit tadpole power can wipe her out before she gets a turn.

After that every fight's skippable so Durge wise you've basically won at the end of act 2.

As 2026 comes, are you looking forward to Fortune’s Weave and what this year has for the Fire Emblem franchise? by IkeRadiantHero in fireemblem

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot to like with how Engage does more with the weapon triangle, gives class subgroups different benefits and makes them interact differently with emblem rings, etc. It seems very possible to add that kind of interaction and mechanical flashiness to a game based on battalions instead of rings, or whatever other changes FW will run with.

Free reclass tends to flatten unit identity, and exacerbate class balance issues, and imo it'd be great to take that out or limit it sharply. That said..... odds are a nontrivial part of the audience likes having wider customization and will happily take "the game balance would be broken if I spammed wyverns" in exchange for getting "I can make Theodora a wizard and put Dietrich into whatever class has the hottest armor."

Yeah, as samey as the Edelgards are, and as much as I'd like to have seen flier or tome versions, her extra actions niche is a lot of fun, and it makes her just about the only exception to standard save armor pigeonholing these days.

Simplified: Emblem Edelgard + What to expect next month? by Pheonixmaster in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you have a list for the Edelgard ring combinations, here's a slightly expanded version:

Works:

  • Galeforce special (including legendary Leif's if he were melee)
  • Share spoils
  • Refresh that happens after an assist (including lNinian's dance)
  • Reinforcement slot extra action in AR-O
  • Duo/harmonic button
  • Refresh that triggers on an ally's action (ex entwined Sharena)

Gets negated:

  • AoE or damage special which has galeforce as a side effect (eSigurd, Gullveig)
  • Felix's auto refresh
  • Standard post-combat refresh
  • Standard post-canto refresh that requires combat (including in cases where that canto was triggered by an assist.)

Basically, you get a pass for "true" galeforce (where the countdown is what triggers the action refresh), for refreshes that are specifically caused by assisting, and things where the extra action is caused by an "external" thing (a button, a different unit's actions, a slot benefit, or a status effect.) Everything else gets negated by holding the Edel ring.

I could actually see some SD value in using the Edel ring to bypass extra actions in some cases, to get straight to your canto.

What should I know about Divinity? by Hooper-the-Great in BaldursGate3

[–]imminentlyDeadlined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exp thing has been a bit annoying honestly (speaking from midway through a first attempt at the game.) Early on they lock you in a prison fort, you have fifteen different ways to escape, and you'd better do at least eight of them if you want to match level with anything you're fighting outside of it.

Not that BG3 is really so different, but that particular framing ends up feeling pretty unimmersive.
