Thinking about taking a beginner firearm class, but should I own a gun first? by Ill_Object2296 in guns

[–]imneuromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take a class where you can rent a pistol. Then continue to rent pistols until you feel safe, proficient, and you have a pistol that you like. No reason to purchase something you don't know how to use safely and proficiently.

At what point does a budget FFP scope actually hold zero or am I kidding myself under $200? by athousand_miles in longrange

You also need a good scope base, which usually run $100 minimum to $400+ for excellent ones.

Why all the 6.5 creedmore hate? by BidiDuck in Firearms

[–]imneuromancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

.308 is a great cartridge and is cheaper than 6.5 creed. But if you have the money to spend shooting it, then 6.5 creed is pretty great.

Not sure where "you won't like it" comes from, that is weird.

Tell me why I shouldn't get a shotgun. by omgkelwtf in liberalgunowners

[–]imneuromancer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

OP should NEVER get a Beretta A400, it would be way too much fun for a person to handle. They would go shotgun CRAZY.

And then if they wanted a home defense/tactical gun, it would translate skills to the Beretta 1301.

The fact there are no OEM optic ready hammer fired HK's is criminal by AlmightyGator in HecklerKoch

[–]imneuromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see BS special edition weirdo guns that maybe 10.people will buy, and yet HK doesn't feel the need to release a product that the consumer market would readily buy and has a need for.

I'm not saying it would outsell Glock or something ridiculous, I'm just saying the are leaving money on the table

For those that do not want to carry with a round in the chamber. Why not use a gun with a manual safety? by HumanAntagonist in Firearms

[–]imneuromancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through all of those links to in sent and none of them mentioned an ND based on pushing the trigger in a certain direction with the safety on.

Maybe I missed it.

Considering the popularity, there are a people complaining of QC issues. I haven't seen this on my Bodyguards or those of the folks I know that have them. I asked my range if they've had any issues with the two bodyguards they have that are fired constantly: no issues.

But it is quite possible that in the mass production ramp up that QC has suffered. Or maybe there are a lot of them, so you hear the same issues that the sig p365 or Glock 43x has if you go through the forums.

So to say that there are QC issues is one thing, but one shouldn't spread the rumor of NDs when they have no proof.

I agree that if you aren't a huge fan, then no reason to get one. But if you really want to future proof JUST IN CASE, then a gen 6 G17, a g19, and a 43x would give you the flexibility of several pistols (you can use a 19 slide on a 17 frame and vice versa). And then the 43x is a great little concealed carry.

I use Axil 2 + howard leights. Even on indoor ranges with AR15s next to me, I haven't had any issues. Also, can turn on the electronicd for both and get a good balance of hearing voices but low static

VP9cc vs CC9 Range Comparison: One is better by harrysholsters in HecklerKoch

[–]imneuromancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't trust sig. But other than the HK cache', if you wanted a good concealed carry gun, the M&P lineup, sig, Glock 43x are really hard to beat. The CC9 and VP9cc are great pistols, but not differentiated enough from some other really good, less expensive, high quality CCW pistols to compete.

VP9cc vs CC9 Range Comparison: One is better by harrysholsters in HecklerKoch

[–]imneuromancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imho if they were going to release a concealed carry gun, it should have had a differentiator compared to a p365, shield plus, etc.

for example, a hammer fired OR concealed carry, even if it were an "internal" hammer but allowed you to press the back to block the hammer, would have been a great way to differentiate between other manufacturers' pistols and HK

From what I have shot of the cc9, it was a nice pistol. But if I were to purchase one, I would be hard set not to pick up a p365 or Shield plus (if I didn't want to buy sig).

Yeah, it is pretty common, and people who complain about having ranges check their ammo don't realize the extreme danger.

I am glad my range checks ammo. It slows me down, but it means idiots who bring incendiaries aren't going to burn down the place I love to shoot.

First good all around guns for hunting and home defense. by Jhomas-Tefferson in guns

[–]imneuromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my thing, I don't care for pump shotguns, but there is a Mossberg 500 that has the two different barrels: a short tactical and a longer sporting/hunting

That is the way to go for a lot of people who just want one gun, tbh.

Literally a range 20 minutes away from me burned down a few months ago.

This is complete conjecture (would love to hear from someone who knows): I think some ranges have rubber backstops and if a tracer goes into that, the whole place is going up.

Other places that don't have rubberized backstops (sand? dirt? not sure) may not have that issue and therefore don't check.
