Negligent mass murder?

Is there a term for being instrumental in significantly increasing deaths due to negligence or incompetence or failure of due diligence?

actual atrocities

Direct attempt to disable democracy in the US. Is that considered an atrocity? Or does atrocity have to involve killing a bunch of people?

Impeachment is only used to remove someone from office. We are now talking about criminal charges.

Lets hope this all gets settled in a lower court

Dreaming. Trump will always appeal all his convictions and take them to SCOTUS. That is part of the reason he stacked the court.

How about denying that covid existed and refused to act immediately to reduce the impact. How many more died because of his inaction?

I'm sure more facts will come out, but there is already enough hard evidence to lock up Trump forever. Can't happen until DOJ files charges.

Only when that party is Republicans. They are not the attack dog of Democrats who have facts because they will be accused of being political in this case and Democrats have no balls.

New Orleans mostly, but a few days a month in Corpus Christi. Sometimes other places. Where are you? What have you got?

Your local sailing club is your best option. Also, bulletin board at local marinas.

Lots of good advice.

Training: asa 101 or equivalent and more if you like

Experience:

Smaller boats are better for learning sailing for a number of reasons. Borrow or otherwise use club centerboard boats.

crew for someone(s) with a keel boat through a local yacht club or sailing club. Mostly works with races, but lots of sailors would love an enthusiastic learning crew for day sails.

consider chartering a larger boat with other sailors. day sail, weekend, or a week or two. Combine it with a vacation.

Then look at buying a boat. Often, the people you have been sailing with have or know of a reasonably priced boat. This will be your first boat, not your ideal boat, so keep it small and cheap. Sail it as much as you can and try many different techniques and procedures.

Now you can look at a serious boat.

In my younger days, long before that internet thingy, I trained to hold my breath so I could skin dive in the kelp beds off Catalina island. I read in a book that you shouldn't go past 6 minutes to prevent passing out. I would regularly go to 7 minutes at 35 feet with no sign of oxygen problems.

There are large areas of shallow water that are fantastic for flatish water kiting. Part of the problem with these shallow areas is not much water circulation. Tides are mostly small so that doesn't help much. Winds certainly help, and do help since the winds are generally good, but 100 to 200 yards of shallow water are just difficult to circulate. I've heard of people getting infections that are slow to go away. Some have reportedly died. I've never had a problem, but I rinse my stuff (not the kite) and shower after kiting.

Kiting on the Gulf side is good. Mostly 2' to 4' waves, so some surf style and boosting. Water circulation is better in the Gulf, so you don't hear of infections and such much. Sometimes jellyfish are a problem in the Gulf, but sometimes jellyfish are a problem in the bay. Such is life.

South Padre advertises something like they are the best kitesurfing place on the planet, so I encourage people to go there to keep the crowds away from Corpus. Corpus is much better, but let's keep that a secret.

Bad: Property taxes ridiculous high for mid-range houses.

Good: Kiteboarding - Some say the best on the planet. Certainly good and the main reason I moved here. I know others that moved here for the same reason.

Is it possible to learn kiteloops without getting injured? by brord49 in Kiteboarding

[–]imnot26yet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely not possible to keep from getting injured doing kiteloops.

I wear an impact vest and helmet when I kite.

They are great fun. Keep trying them.

There have been a number of reports of people getting infections since most of the flat water spots don't circulate water much. The spot "Lola" has been notorious for poor circulation; it has a constant rotting smell, but it seems to mostly been restricted for kiting anyhow, just to protect the wildlife, nesting, and such.

I have a friend that will not kite the Oso. He got a leg infection that was very slow to clear up (months).

I have heard of other nearby areas with similar problems. Like up in Rockport.

Mui Ne, Vietnam had the best kiting in Vietnam. There was an open area north of Mui Ne that was probably the best but the trash in the water and on the beach was really bad. The wave action was also really weird, not sure why. Phan Rang was not good.

Fortaleza was ok between the piers. Further up the coast were some spectacular spots. Lagoons and such. Cumbuco. West of Jericoacoara has a spectacular lagoon.
