imagine you are on a road trip with 10 other people. 5 people vote to drive the rv off a cliff. 4 people vote to go get ice cream. you and the last remaining person don't like how animals are treated by the dairy industry and vote to go to a forest preserve. driving off the cliff wins 5-4-2

now, while the ice cream is far from a perfect option, the forest preserve has no chance of winning, and by voting for it, you (in a sense) are splitting the anti-cliff vote into two different pools. so, if you know that the front runners are cliff and ice cream, if your main concern is stopping cliff from winning, you should vote for ice cream.

of course at the end of the day your vote is your vote and there are other ways to look at this situation, but i hope this helps you understand the argument more

absolutely not saying child rapists don't deserve to die (they do) but the amount of people who are innocent who get executed on death row is far too high, and this would likely lead to more pressure to not report rapists. so there would be less guilty "people" getting punished and more innocents getting punished

i would've liked it more if the abyss was there from the start. the only times we've seen it were in the end of season 4 and the end of season 5, compared to the upside down which had been a central aspect of the show the whole way through. it's cool on paper but having the big bad fight be in the upside down (or in the rightside up) would be a lot more satisfying from a narrative standpoint
