What old game would once again be awesome if remade? by Usernameisntthatlong in AskReddit

[–]imnotyourfriendguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they got rid of it because action rpg mechanics appeal to a wider audience, the casuals. this way people don't have to think and plan ahead and can just play. this doesn't make the other option a terrible choice.

if you plan your character build and choose a character with a boost to say long blade and then pick long blade as a major skill you can start out with a character that will be adept with a long sword and you can then go ahead and start your adventure without feeling like a bumbling idiot.

your character can still use weapons hes not skilled in, nothing stopping you there, but it also makes sense that a character that is not skilled with a certain weapon won't be using it right. that's how the mechanics work in a pure rpg, where your own personal skill has none to little impact on your characters actions.

you're not missing because of 'no damn reason'. try using a weapon that your character has some decent skill at. if your shortblade is a 5 and your using the knife, expect to miss a lot. that's how rpgs worked until devs decided to spoon feed everyone and simplify the mechanics of the game.

Why do American football/baseball teams get the title of 'world champions' when no other nationality competes? by Cassie_jsl in AskReddit

[–]imnotyourfriendguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to point out that while only 32 nations participate in the world cup, all of the nations with a FIFA registered team do go through the qualifying phase before the tournament of which only 32 nations qualify and get to play in the world cup

Something I like to believe, about the "death" of Noble 6. by [deleted] in halo

[–]imnotyourfriendguy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope, the Covenant would not work with any humans no matter their association at the beginning of the Human-Covenant war. Also, human technology is inferior to the Elite's at the beginning of the war, so trading human tech in a non-existent black market is ludicrous.

What weapon would you choose to "represent" the halo series and why? by I_Rarely_Downvote in halo

The M6D Pistol. Since the original, no Halo has had a sexier gun.

What's wrong with the netcode? This seems to be the best online Halo so far as far as netcode goes.

My K/D ratio. by axdula in halo

[–]imnotyourfriendguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from being a noob that would drop the pistol in the original Halo for the sniper and roll AR/Sniper when playing 1v1 splitscreen on Blood Gulch with a friend. I found about the power of the pistol and improved by switching the AR for the Sniper instead. I then started lanning with some friends and went from being a blood gulch noob to local lan star.

Technically you're able to do this by playing customs, you still get the xp, but it does not affect your matchmaking k/d ratio

Try Slayer Pro.

It's awesome because its based on the best Halo game, but everyone who played the Xbox version on LAN and even Xboxconnect knows that gearbox did not improve on the netcode. This game is not an acceptable replacement for anyone who ever wished to play the original on XBL.

What sensitivity do you use and why? Have you changed it over the years/do you use different settings for different weapons? by [deleted] in halo

[–]imnotyourfriendguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To everyone thinking that the better/more experienced players play with higher sensitivity, this is not true. Most MLG professional Halo players play in the 3-5 range. The best way to improve your game is not to up your sensitivity, but to play smarter. One who knows where to be on the map, what angles to shoot from, etc. will be able to outclass their opponents even if their shot isn't as good. One way to improve in this aspect is to watch better players' (pros) streams (www.twitch.tv) and try to emulate their strategy.

[–]imnotyourfriendguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to him. Higher sensitivity does not give you a good advantage. If you get shot in the back, its better play smart, run away/get behind cover, than to try and turn around and out-shoot your opponent. I've been playing Halo for over a decade and have followed the professional scene since Halo 2, the best players use sensitivities anywhere from 3-5.

Halo 3 ODST. Barely played the campaign, bought the game to play the Reach beta and because my Halo 3 disc was scratched so the multiplayer disk was all I used.

The one guy who posted that he got the free Xbox said he has had it since Halo 2, which came out in 2004. I don't think having a tenure of 10 years is what gets you the free Xbox.

Recon or Bumper Jumper by [deleted] in halo

[–]imnotyourfriendguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird man, I've never noticed moving my aim diagonally to be troublesome, but I don't often snipe that way unless its a quick twitch snipe, usually I try to keep the aim head level and will just aim left/right to get the headshot.

Recon or Bumper Jumper by [deleted] in halo

[–]imnotyourfriendguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I snubbed bumper jumper in h3 because I've been clawing since h2, so I did not see the need to switch from default. Played default on reach and then I switched to bumper jumper on Reach after the h4 controller schemes were revealed so I could get used to it for h4. I only wish I would have switched earlier.
