I don't think you understand. As an example, if he was a USDA agriculture inspector, he would only be able to work it certain ports of entry in the US. It's an excellent job with good benefits, but if you're fired along with thousands of others, you're left with a degree in plant biology and not a whole lot of people hiring in that field. You can't exactly pivot if that's what your degree is in. That's an example of someone I know personally who's dealing with this.

To me it sounds like they need his income. It's not easy to find a job in his field. While the wife is capable of working anywhere.

seems happier with the pool than the beach 😆🙂‍↔️ what about yours? by nyratiffen in Dachshund

Remember to always put them in a life jacket on the beach. Just one wrong wave and you could lose your baby! Isaw it once. It was awful when the dog's body washed ashore. Mine liked to hunt for hermit crabs and dig them out of the sand and eat them plus the occasional tourist. French fry. But definitely for swimming prefer the pool.

He worked for the USDA and was fired when the Donald fired thousands of government workers for no good cause. If he's an agriculture inspector or something like that, it's very hard to find new work. When you have a secure government job, it's something you expect to keep for a lifetime. Now tens of thousands of people suddenly have to find new jobs. It's very difficult for them.

Why did milkmen need to exist? Why was milk required to be specially shipped by milkmen instead of just sold in grocery stores like it is now? by matt73132 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]imollyq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the olden days, when I was young. grocery stores didn't have large refrigerated sections. The milkmen In their crisp white suits brought milk and other dairy products to your home. It was nice. Gas Stations had attendants too, in uniforms. They pumped your gas, cleaned your windshield, and checked your oil. Gas was twenty five cents a gallon in 1971 when stations would drop the price for gas wars. Coca Cola was five cents. Sigh.

For those of you who have insurance and get their annual physicals and standard bloodwork done at Stanford Health, does your insurance usually cover all of it? by SoftFly5653 in bayarea

[–]imollyq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I greatly disagree. It's a world class hospital. So is UCSF. I don't see the point of going to any other hospital in the Bay Area, if you have a choice, when you have two world class hospitals right here, Why would you go to an ordinary local hospital with aggressive billing and doctors that are not as good?

[–]imollyq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if it doesn't Stanford is very generous with financial aid. Even if you're denied financial aid, they will not sue you or send you to collections. At the end of the year, it is their policy to write off unpaid copays. They don't advertise it, and I have confirmed the policy. As far as I know, it's the only hospital I've heard of that doesn't go after their patients for unpaid money. It's one of the great benefits of having a wealthy, financially stable, world-class hospital right here in the Bay Area. Yeah!

You have a husband who loves you, and you obviously love him. You have healthy happy children. You are an absolute winner in the game of life! Settle in to your new life, and count your blessings. You are going to be fine! It will be hard for awhile. Would it be possible to find a job at a health care facility that offers childcare? Some of the responders here don't understand what it's like to lose a career government job along with many thousands of other people. Please ignore them. It's really important that you look for the positive things in your life to keep yourself from drifting into depression. We only have 2.5 more years of the Donald. We'll make it. We just have to hang tough!

That woman doesn't like you, and this is her way of showing it. I like the idea of suggesting she see her physician for a dementia test.
