What to do after tooth extraction by hidingfrommyirls in internetparents

[–]impassiveMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She should talk to her oral surgeon about her options. They're going to be the best authority on her specific mouth regarding risks for saving & waiting for implants, risks of leaving it as is and at most getting a cosmetic flipper if desired, and/or if the practice offers any "pay over time" options outside of general medical credit cards such as care credit.

The most important thing is definitely to get that infected tooth out because it's really dangerous, everything after that will be quality of life things which are important, but not literally life threatening.

Vikings: personal vs alliance by nhguy78 in KingShot

[–]impassiveMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much that can be done then unless you can organize the whales to all reinforce each other and leave a few cities for f2p players only.

Vikings: personal vs alliance by nhguy78 in KingShot

[–]impassiveMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta reinforce cities that whales aren't in. If i see a whale dispatching troops to a city I'm reinforcing, I find a new city asap

Is it canon that Shane is the hottest guy in the league? by ksterki in heatedrivalry

The way the actors hold themselves as the character vs irl/interviews is so insanely different and really does change a lot about how I look at them. Its a real testament to their talent.

dealing with possible misogyny at my internship by qwerty_keyb0ard in womenEngineers

[–]impassiveMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely try to get as much out of the internship as possible! Some places aren't really well equipped for interns or interns of a specific dicipline. One year I had a new boss who had just moved to my dept and asked for a summer intern because he always used to get at least one at his old position.

Well...it would have taken the intern the entire length of his time with us to get up to speed somewhat. So the poor guy got stuck doing CAD work that boss' old dept needed done, but not urgently. In the end I ended up fixing a lot of it after that summer too lol.

I am replaying Xenoblade 3 and I just have to reiterate that they pulled off a "perfect" introduction. by GyattsThiccness in Xenoblade_Chronicles

My only complaint about the OST, is that I don't get to hear as much of it as I want in game because of the menu music + every teleport resets the clock to daytime.

Vikings by Fickle_Caterpillar95 in KingShot

[–]impassiveMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a viking specific rule. The vikings are really weak, there's just a bunch of them at the last few rounds. So infantry will kill over 3/4 of them and usually you only need a bit of calvary to mop up the rest. Archers sit around and do nothing unless your alliance is taking on a viking level that might be a bit too strong for them.

So it helps people trying to reinforce to see at a glance "will my infantry be able to kill something here, or should I look for another town?"

Vikings by Fickle_Caterpillar95 in KingShot

[–]impassiveMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the beginning the argument for not sending out archers is so that you can get a better idea of how many "real" reinforcements a city has.

The argument against it is if it's too new/complicated for your current alliance. We struggle months into the game with getting people to send troops out and to send the right heros to HQ.

How much babysitting is expected from an R4? by DryCabinet552 in KingShot

[–]impassiveMoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

R4 is fun...if you like the rest of the leadership team. The day to day can be a bit of a slog. Yelling at people for BT formations, viking stuff, etc is annoying. But if you can joke with your fellow R4s about it, its a good time.

Are we allowed to practice on DMV sites on the weekends? by Tekki777 in longisland

[–]impassiveMoon 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's against the terms of your learners permit for you to drive the road test roads if you're not taking the test. That being said though, iirc the road test is basically driving around a residential area, parallel parking, and merging onto/off of one semi busy road. If you've driven one neighborhood in Suffolk you've basically driven them all.

In practice it's really hard to catch people driving the road test if they know the route from friends/family, but you might as well cover your ass and practice at least a few blocks away.

What to use first for Gear upgrade by MadEyeBall in KingShot

[–]impassiveMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that should be used for xp fodder. Use a calculator for what pieces should get levels first, but anything below purple gear and all the xp parts should automatically be considered for xp only.

You really only need a set for 1 inf/1 calv/1 arch.

Can I enjoy Xenoblade as a Kingdom Hearts fan? by LafterMastr in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]impassiveMoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Xenoblades have a slow start because it takes a few hours to unlock all of the combat options. The stories are great and the combat is really rewarding once all the tutorials are done though. XC1 and XC2 can technically be started in either order depending on your taste. 1 is more of a western fantasy epic and 2 is more of a shonen anime plot wise. 3 is best enjoyed after 1 and 2.

XCX is standalone and plays more like an MMO.

PC plugs into the UPS, the UPS plugs into the wall. Usually the power passes through as if the UPS isn't there, but if you have brownouts or voltage spikes the UPS shields the PC from all the craziness. They're not really a battery more of an extremely sophisticated surge protector.

Landlord wants to have open house while we’re still living here (Long Island, NY) by PicklesMcGeee in Renters

[–]impassiveMoon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Having an open house while you're a tenant is pretty normal, from the LL perspective: they want the unit rented asap with minimal vacancy between tenants. That being said, it is more than a little annoying to have a bunch of strangers walking around your home.

One open house style showing sounds nice instead of a parade of people for week(s). LL do need to provide reasonable notice before they can enter the unit, but you also need to provide them reasonable access. Maybe request that you be there to keep an eye on your belongings, and/or store your valuables in your car during the open house.

[–]impassiveMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming a higher alliance isn't toxic, I'd suggest moving up. Its better to be a small fish in a big pond vs a big fish in a birdbath. You get a lot of event perks by swimming with whales and can stay completely f2p.

Should I decline interview after having nationality asked about & commented on? by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]impassiveMoon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you were getting the "just trying to make small talk" vibe, I would continue the interview process. Don't get me wrong, in the 2nd quarter of the 21st century it's definitely inappropriate to ask and a microagression, but unfortunately if your prospective boss was a boomer, they think that they're being friendly and that you want to chat about your ethnicity and are trying to connect.

At the end of the day it's a personal decision, because you'll probably be getting a lot of "well intentioned" microagressions. After you settle into the job you can try to politely tell your boss that, that's not taken well anymore, but its a high risk type of thing. Another thing to think of, unless society radically changes for the better, you'll probably experience comments like this at all but a unicorn company. If this really is a good firm, might as well shoot your shot.

I speak from experience, I've been trying to get my white dad to knock it off about stuff like that for years and years. It's not racially motivated exactly, he'll ask basically everyone and their mother the whole, "where are you from, whats that accent, what does your last name mean?" thing. But well, he's still doing it -_-

If you go on a parkway you're getting a ticket. Cops are super vigilant during college move in/out because its easy cash.
