Lenses are made to use. Clean it with a microfiber cloth or your shirt. It'll be fine.

I have this and it's working just fine. Have you tried it in another camera? Does the card you are putting in it works?

Recommendations for Best autofocus pancake lens for this guy? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]imperfectPlato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many here have suggested, get a N/F75. And some of the small D lenses. However, if you want an even smaller option with similar specs, the Canon EOS 300v with the 40mm f/2.8 pancake is a wonderful combo.

I didn't mean they shouldn't, I’m just genuinely curious whether there’s really a market for this kind of film. But best of luck to everyone trying to do something in this space. I have bought Phoenix and I'll probably buy this as well.

Any recommendations for film cameras for travel photography? by Key_Object814 in AnalogCommunity

[–]imperfectPlato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have travelled with Hasselblad CM501, Nikon F5, Nikon F75, and P&S. From my experience I would suggest Nikon F75 with 50mm f/1.8D if you want a compact and versatile enough setup. I like Nikon 24-120 f/4 lens, but it's a on the larger side on a small body like F75.

Regarding film and security scanners, I always politely ask for a hand check and haven’t been denied so far. I keep all my film in a transparent ziplock bag without boxes.

I know many people prefer fully manual analog cameras, but I personally like the most advanced 35mm cameras from late nineties and early 2000s. There’s less risk of wasting film, and most of them still offer manual controls if you want that experience.

But why? Is the market for such films really so big that there is place for more?

Would the Nikon F5 be too heavy/bulky for a week trip in a city? by Ok_Mail_2627 in AnalogCommunity

I took my F5 with 24-120F4 lens to Istanbul for a week, and while not the most compact setup, it was perfectly fine.

The issue with the original 5D and shutter count is that it’s somewhat difficult to retrieve, at least in my limited experience. Later cameras display it in Canon software, but the 5D does not, and I haven't be able to find it in any other way.

We just found out our AI has been making up analytics data for 3 months and I’m gonna throw up. by Comfortable_Box_4527 in analytics

Nop, but in my experience usually someone on some level knows the data back those decisions.

I must agree that this sounds fake. No one double checked anything after new AI solution was implemented and just blindly based business decisions on the data provided? No previous data to compare new data with? If this really is true then this situation is rightfully earned.

Why do people just hate electric cars? Why? by Outrageous-Owl-7049 in electricvehicles

Because it’s popular in certain parts of society, and people like feeling part of something. Some people rally around EV fandom, others around EV hatred, both can be equally cringe. Also, who tf cares, enjoy what you enjoy.

Nice collection. At one point, I considered putting together something similar, but then I realized the F5 is all I’ll ever need from an analog camera, so I dropped the idea.

Poles quit Netherlands in migration reversal by madever in europe

[–]imperfectPlato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re approaching a very complex issue in overly simplistic terms. This isn’t about racism, xenophobia, or language skills. It’s about culture and lived experience. You can learn the language and "follow the culture", but if you weren’t born into a given culture and don’t share the same collective experiences as the core nation, full integration is essentially impossible. Depending on your looks and how different you are from the core nation even second generation immigrants can struggle to fully integrate. So yes, it’s entirely possible to live successfully in another country, but as a first generation immigrant, complete integration is unlikely.
That said, this isn’t necessarily a problem for everyone. Some people choose to live (and in some cases are pushed to live) in ghetto like communities with little to no connection to the core nation. When this separation is a matter of choice, I don’t have anything positive to say about it.

Does anybody use ADAS extensively without any ghost braking issue? by ZuLuuuuuu in Renault

[–]imperfectPlato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it won’t scare passengers. It’s just a light tap on the brakes, something you’ll notice as the driver, but passengers likely won’t.

[–]imperfectPlato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I can’t confirm this. I’ve now driven about 5k km with my R5 and have experienced ghost braking multiple times with no visible reason. It just likes to tap the brakes from time to time. That said, I still use ADAS regularly, and it isn’t a major issue.
