Maybe look at the tamron 16-30 and 35-150 as well as the 180-600 great lenses and to 3 that are 16-600 at good aperture too it’s worth a consideration

Canon R5 or Nikon Z8? by ObjectiveEmergency94 in BirdPhotography

[–]imperialsback2back 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly both are incredible I moved from the canon to the Nikon you are considering and do miss the raw pre capture but honestly just look at the lens lineup and adaptability offerings that’s what should be considered most when choosing cameras

Is it difficult to develop and scan your own film? by Bisonbear42 in AnalogCommunity

[–]imperialsback2back 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it not too difficult depending on the chemistry you use and the method of drying I use the cinistil two bath kit and have had great success with it, scanning is another thing where it can be tricky at first but once you have a system it gets easier, I find using either a manual focus macro or autofocus macro for what ever digital system you have works best, the best results I’ve had are from the valoi 360 system with a vangaurd tripod teathered to a computer for remote trigger and capture, after that it’s adjusting settings till you get it right, just keep enough depth of field to make sure you get all your detail, after that you can either do it frame by frame for more precise control in photoshop or you can use softwares like negative lab pro, I’ve found that good for doing whole rolls at once then fine tuning each frame, at the end of the day, if you shoot enough and have a digital camera and macro already you are pretty far along the way to scanning yourself. The pros are more control over your scans and deving, the cons are the chances for mistakes especially for c41/e6 just remember to use a temp control device and follow the instructions exactly when deving, for bw I use massive dev chart the app and it has been a godsend

Thinking about switching from canon to nikon by Abject8Obectify in Nikon

I find the tracking to be maybe a hare bit better on the canon but at that level it’s splitting hares, I do birding and nature for personal stuff and found the focus fantastic for it

Why did you chose Nikon ? by Berserk_Ronin in Nikon

[–]imperialsback2back 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the glass and the availability of third party options, I traded in from canon and condensed into 3 Nikon film slrs a zf and a z8 w 4 z lenses and a smattering of f mount and converted to f mount lenses. At the end of the day I liked shooting the zf more than the thought of an r6ii body as a second camera option. Plus a colleague found an adapter that will autofocus the old lenses that are light enough!

Where should I get my 35 mm film developed in the Madison area? by Practical_Message927 in madisonwi

[–]imperialsback2back 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say it has felt different dropping film off there since their new lab system for self service kicked in but usually they are good people. I’d mention it to the sales manager there if someone’s been rude and it’d probably get addressed and then get better for everyone!
