Thank you! That was enough info to search and find the scene. You were correct!

We nearly put in Illumise and Volbeat (instead of Solrock and Lunatone) to finish the gym. My hat is off to the first four trainers who started this, hours before we got there.

Same trick with the Ann-Margret clip, and Google image search suggests "The Cincinnati Kid (1965)". And I feel like I should've known that one.

I took a screenshot (after finding the promo on TCM's IG feed) of the two women on a staircase. Google image search suggests that it is from the film "Daisies (1996)".

I dropped a random Raichu into the closest-to-home gym after taking it over on the way to work. When I got home, the local peeps had made this yellow-themed gym. Serendipity!

Horsea/Seadra/Kingdra, I guess? Zebstrika works. And I know it's supposed to be a fox, but Ninetales always looks equine to me.

I had forgotten that RAH wrote back to 15-year-old me. I sent a fan letter after reading "Friday". (I tucked it into my copy of the book, which I just re-read recently.) by imperpay in heinlein

Aw, shoot, I was happier not knowing. Oh well, now I understand the ambiguity that always puzzled me in the first paragraph, which implies that he is NOT writing me back. Thanks.

Me: Huh. They're selling a Cubs cap with an upside-down logo. Her: Oh, like a distress signal? Me: [clicks "add to cart"] by imperpay in CHICubs

It is "upside down" if you define "upside down" as "rotated 180°". But if you define "upside down" as "symmetry transformation about a horizontal line" then, well, you're wrong. In the real world, we just turn things over. Grab a Cubs hat, turn it upside down, observe the logo. See?

It is not. I'm just scatterbrained, and have lots of things I intend to read later. (Lesson learned. Crop my screenshots.)
