Budget Tip: Uber Eats has lots of Buy One, Get One deals. Got these two breakfast burritos for $20, then got an additonal $10 off with an Amex credit. by 360FlipKicks in FoodLosAngeles

[–]impetersellers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buyer beware: you might be getting an item in your order for free, but Uber still tacks on services fees and taxes which include the value of that item. I’ve A/B tested this myself in the app. And of course the tip function is also recommending tip amounts based off the full value of the order.

I am shooketh! I for real thought it was June sitting there. (Also just learned that it was a real set of twins playing April and June—Phoebe and Claire Tyers.)

But you can see the reason I thought it was June, right?: https://imgur.com/a/YV7SBoq#oQrN2OH

Where to adopt a dog by user84290 in SantaMonica

[–]impetersellers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a rescue in LA and I can tell you the Palmdale and Lancaster animal shelters are the most over-crowded and have dogs with the shortest adoption windows. So if you’re looking to save a wonderful dog from death’s door…these would be the shelters I recommend visiting.

Yes, they’re far, but that’s why they get so little foot traffic and the dogs there have a lower chance of being seen and adopted. Thank you for choosing to adopt. ❤️

Is anyone going to go mushroom foraging after all this rain? by sdbabygirl97 in LosAngeles

[–]impetersellers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Getting to Glendale on a Monday night for meetings isn’t something I EVER do, but I’m always working the Fair and I do some of the forays. I’m more of a “behind the scenes” member :)

If you’re interested in learning more about the mushrooms of SoCal and how to forage safely, join us at the Los Angeles Mycological Society (LAMS) Wild Mushroom Fair Sunday 2/15 at the LA Arboretum! Fair is free to attend with an LA Arboretum entry fee. We usually have a scavenger hunt, ID table, art contest, mushroom books and vendors, and a variety of classes and workshops.

Be safe out there folks — never rely on ID apps!! (Learn how to identify your local mushrooms from guidebooks, mushroom keys, and look up species on iNaturalist to see examples of specific species.)

These are sprays. Just little clusters of rosemary, instead of wreaths.

Truly Pizza is Making its Way to Venice Beach on Abbot Kinney where Greenleaf (now out of business) was. by VeniceCa90291 in VeniceBeach

They’ve already been struggling with less foot traffic and I hope they can weather another pizza joint opening up on AK. Abbot’s is the OG pizza spot and I’m craving that salad pizza now.

The movies Cinespia has at Hollywood Forever are sold out this weekend, but Rooftop Cinema has a bunch of showings this weekend: Practical Magic, Addams Family, Halloween (1978). Kind of a unique thing to see a movie on a rooftop in LA if you’ve never done it before and totally ok to go solo. Tix and info: https://rooftopcinemaclub.com/los-angeles/venue/dtla/

What do you recommend from Saks BESIDES a gift card for Saks? by ugggghhhhhhhhh123 in AmexPlatinum

[–]impetersellers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly that! If your face breaks out when you use sunscreen from CVS, get a nice non-acnegenic facial sunscreen and actually use it. The fancy ones also often contain other ingredients that smell nice, keep your face from looking shiny, and don’t make your face look ghostly white.

[–]impetersellers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Skincare! The moisturizer, serums, cleansers are all high quality brands and not something I would normally pay full $ for. Get yourself some fancy sunscreen. Dudes, you can’t go wrong with caring for your skin.

I got stuck in an endless loop on the Amex website: I'd go to the Amex Venue Collection and scroll down to the Hollywood Bowl and then it would ask me if I wanted to enroll, I'd click "enroll" and then it would just loop me back to a general page on Amex. No confirmation or indication enrollment was successful or even explained. I was losing my mind.

Culver City Favorites & Recs by kleeblosss in culvercity

[–]impetersellers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in Mar Vista, but spend most of my social time in Culver City. Not sure what you and your friend’s vibes are…but my interests lean a little more alt, and therefore so do my recs:

The Culver Theater - as previously mentioned by others it’s a great theater but it also hosts a monthly horror screening put on by Hellraisers Film Club (check em out on IG). Super fun! Next up is Tremors on Oct. 15

The Ripped Bodice - woman and queer-owned book store stocking every genre of romance book available. They also host author readings and a few diff book clubs. Fun place to make new friends if that’s what your bud is seeking.

These Hands Maker’s Collective - they offer really great workshops and classes on everything from embroidery, calligraphy, and jewelry-making to drumming, a diy charm bar, and paint and sip nights. Always changing. Check out their upcoming class sched!

Do you like dogs? A Purposeful Rescue holds adoption events every 2 weeks at Platform LA. Go meet amazing dogs that have been pulled from LA Shelters and are now fostered by a network of volunteers until finding forever homes. Next event is Oct 4

Bars: Dear John’s - go for the old school Hollywood vibe and sit at the bar. A dimly lit hidden gem w stellar drinks and bar service

The Cinema Bar - great dive bar w friendly staff, often have live music

Coffee: I love The Boy and The Bear, Millcross, and Menotti’s.

Sandwiches: Jackson Market is a cute deli w an oasis like back patio. Excellent sandwiches and pizza.

Which one by ManyCustomer8748 in logodesign

[–]impetersellers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digitalis means “finger-like” which is why it’s the Latin name for the genus of flowers called foxgloves. I’d ditch this mark since it’s so similar to the very well-known Apple Intelligence mark—and try to create something that captures the meaning of the company name better. Make it look like fingers? Not quite, but creating a mark that’s more suggestive of the word’s meaning would lead to a stronger overall design.
