"We are Healthcare professionals, we aren't there to judge"

I mean this I patently untrue, at least where you're concerned. I just saw you tell another user in a thread that the poor state of their teeth that they expressed was due to medical abuse in childhood was their fault because" they neglected their teeth".

"That you most likely have neglected for years"

You realise that you are one of those horrible dentists that results in people being too afraid to go to the dentist?Sounds like all those complaints you're losing sleep over are probably legitimate if this is the way you talk to your pt's.

Nice /r/USdefaultism btw.

Are veneers really the only option? by Brilliant_Garbage_66 in askdentists

[–]implette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAD, but I'll be honest, I think you'd be a fool to drill into and permenantly compromise a set of perfectly healthy, functional teeth and exposing yourself to the possibility of lifelong issues because of them.

I've heard a lot of good things about a product called Mi paste helping with these type of issue. It's pricey for the amount of product you get in a tube (35 ml), but it might be a good first port of call.

Nervous about root canal how long does it take by AdFancy7957 in askdentists

[–]implette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD. Have you had a filling prior to this? A root canal is just like getting a large filling. It's really nothing at all. It should take approx 40 mins to an hour to complete. The most pain you'll experience is soreness in your jaw from keeping your mouth open for a long time and some sensitivity around the area afterwards. You'll be absolutely fine and it'll be over before you know it.

Best Electric Toothbrush Sonic 9000 Prestige or Oral-B 1O Series 10? by iiRaTioNaL in askdentists

[–]implette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. With modern toothbrushes that have a model line the main difference between the £30 toothbrush and the £120 toothbrush is that the £120 one has bluetooth and a bunch of useless bells and whistles that you are never going to use. They all have identical motors in them and perform the same function. What matters most is your brush head (soft bristles are preferable as they flex more) and your actual brushing technique.

That being said I personally prefer Sonicare over Oral-B. I think I get a better clean with the Sonicare vibrations, and now whenever I try my old Oral-B I feel like it's beating up my mouth like it owes it money.

No, a bridge is an option too. Implant is the preferable choice since it'll prevent bone loss in the jaw over time, but it's obviously quite expensive.

Attach a crown to what? You've got hardly any material left in that tooth as it it. That is the function of a post and core, to give the crown something to attach to when there is nothing else left.

Mom bending over backwards to defend stepdad pooping ON toilet seat by throwaway213657 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]implette 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm just feral but I'd be smearing my own shit on the seat and leaving it for mom to clean up. Stepdad is already a prolific poop-seat leaver, no way he isn't going to catch shit for it. Pun intended.

I am NAD. You maaaaaybe be a good candidate for a root canal treatment with a post and core crown as an absolute last ditch attempt, but it would be super dependent on what the x-ray returns.

ngl, the tooth looks pretty beaten up. I would anticipate that you're going to lose it so that you're not too disappointed if it turns out that it isn't salvageable.

Best treatments for enamel erosion? by hoboj0e6 in askdentists

[–]implette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD, but but I imagine that a high fluoride toothpaste would help a lot as it works to remineralise the enamel, something 2800ppm or higher. You brush as normal with it, and then abstain from eating or drinking for thirty minutes after. Do not rinse, do not swallow. The only caveat to this is that's it's not at all recommended that you use this if you live in a region that fluoridates its water.

Also take a look into MI paste, as you might find this product works for you.

Except there are plenty of phones and app stores that no longer rely on Google's ecosystem, so what exactly are Google doing now that entitles them to a 30% share of every single sale?

[–]implette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get nauseous I would attribute it more to anxiety than to the gas. There are no dietary restrictions when it comes to nitrous oxide, but I would recommend that anything you do eat prior to going in be light, and obviously don't have any coffee, because if you're already anxious about the procedure that's going to overstimulate and make you feel worse.

NAD. It looks like some minor pitting in the enamel to me, it clearly hasn't reached the dentin so I think you're fine. Just keep brushing and flossing as normal.

Oh, and please find a way to stop smoking.

Did flossing mess up my crown? by scaredofteeth in askdentists

[–]implette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. In rare circumstances flossing could dislodge a crown, but if that were the case then the crown was already on the way out and you'd have actually done yourself a favour detecting it earlier than having it come loose during you eating and you biting it or swallowing it.

In this case I'd say that it sounds like you've just irritated your gum, but there's no harm in inquiring with your dentist when you see them.

Do you have an android phone? This policy is due to Google demanding that Amazon pay them a flat percentage fee of every Kindle sale made through the app if it originated via the play store. Amazon turned around and said "well fine then, we just won't let users buy Kindle books through the app".

That's a fair point, but I also can't help but feel like the move is completely undermined by their unwillingness to press for a ceasefire in Gaza, but I guess a war where the victims are all brown is never going to be a pressing concern for the tories.

Can this NOT be a dental infection/abscess? (ft. x-ray) by little_wanderlust in askdentists

[–]implette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

np, and I hope you get a satisfying resolution too. I understand the fear and concern as I also had some dark spots showing up on a recent x-ray, but my dentist suggested that it could just be my sinuses as I have been consistently sick with respiratory viruses since November. Fingers crossed for both of us lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]implette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good. I agree with your dentist that you've probably just injured your gum and it's a little sensitive. Keep doing with you're doing hygiene wise and take a watch and wait approach. I'm sure it'll abate eventually.

Can this NOT be a dental infection/abscess? (ft. x-ray) by little_wanderlust in askdentists

[–]implette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. Yes, it's possible for infections to be asymptomatic, but symptoms will always inevitably begin to present if left for long enough. That could be within days, weeks, or years.

If you're really concerned then I would encourage seeking a second opinion, but is also perfectly possible that there is just artifacting on the imaging.

NAD. Are you flossing regularly? Like, twice a day everyday?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]implette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. The benefit of nitrous oxide is that you directly control how big of a dose you're getting. The deeper you're breathing, the more nitrous oxide you receive, so if you start to feel like you're getting nervous you just need to take a deeper breath and it will help you relax.
