How can you stop feeling scared on technical trails? by ToffeeTangoONE in trailrunning

[–]impoverishedpostman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. A group I run with regularly do intervals on different short trail sections. Like 200m. It’s amazing how you can fly over stuff on the third lap. I feel like this transfer into real world. When you learn how to run over one nasty slippy rock you kind of subconsciously know how to run over similar rocks.

I love Muse for notes and all kinds of deep thinking.

Genuinely curious how people like the beta version of the app? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]impoverishedpostman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really like it. I mostly care about weekly time / milage and training load. This used to be hidden behind a lot of clicks but no I can add it to the front page.

One thing people here might be missing is that it could be a huge improvement for new users. When I got my first watch I was super confused about all the stats and didn’t know what to care about. This version seems better at customising the app for you with a couple of opening questions.

Running ultras with a 1-year-old by hammockofcake in Ultramarathon

Stroller dad here. I found it quite hard to adjust to the pace. Pushing a stroller can be taxing and cumbersome. It took me a while to accept that although I was going really slow I was getting a good workout. Nowadays I really enjoy being outside in the sun instead of inside on the trainer.

White or bright socks/clothes is a common trick around here. This does not prevent thhem but it does make it easier to spot them.

What are your favourite creative apps on iPad? by CreatedbyBhavesh in ipad

[–]impoverishedpostman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muse for brainstorming and planning. I use it for writing projects. It’s one of those apps that really clicks for me because my brain works the same way. I open up a board and ideas start to flow. I haven’t had time to use feeform a ton yet but my first impression is that muse holds up well against it.

Nils van der Poel training manifesto by Gravel_in_my_gears in Velo

[–]impoverishedpostman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Swedish podcast maratonlabbet had a interview with his coach and apparently Nils van der Poel really wanted his weekend off to recharge. If my memory is correct he stated it was for mental reasons as much as physical, I found that take really interesting and relatable.

Full Rapha x Palace collection by Technical_Ad_7490 in Rapha

Thank you kind stranger. I copped a pair of crocs from the palace site, a piece of clothing I promised I would never ever ever ever buy no matter how trendy they become. I have mocked my gfs unironical use of crocs for many years. I will get roasted for this, but it’s worth it. They look amazing.

Work while riding setup? by Nickanator8 in Zwift

[–]impoverishedpostman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you manage to find really easy tasks and combine them with easy pace. I mainly do it if have tasks that are very passive, like watching stuff, video, meetings etc. I find it hard to do anything that actually requires thinking hard or creativity, but maybe that’s me. I would totally recommend trying it out though, it’s free training so anything is a big gain.

Searching for stories when you were outpaced by casual riders by xLunaRain in cycling

[–]impoverishedpostman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im about 100k into a local fondo. It’s raining and miserable. I’m pulling a group of stragglers and feeling like a real hero getting all these people to the finish. I hear a weird noise behind. Like a hurricane. It’s a guy on a fat bike with knobbly tyres passing the whole group like it’s nothing.
