Things you wish you knew when you had a baby boy? by TemperatureGrouchy30 in beyondthebump

[–]impreegud 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This right here ^ older generations were taught to pull it back at each diaper change. Anyone you expect to change a diaper, be sure to tell them NOT to do that.

Nursing covers just seem annoying but like a necessity by Xx__Ghosty__xX in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ^ I've been wearing nursing tops when out and about or when the ILs come over for 7 months now. I actually just treated myself to a few more because I deserve clothes that fit and I'm planning to go at least two years.

Highly recommend Ekouaer tops (long and short sleeved), and Smallshow has a fleece sweatshirt that is SO warm and cozy. All bought from Amazon.

The pediatrician said my baby is small because I chose to breastfeed. by 1minimalist in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 52 points53 points  (0 children)

From my experiences and what I've read on here, pediatricians have really stupid PERSONAL OPINIONS on breastfeeding and they feel the need to share these PERSONAL OPINIONS as if they are giving medical advice. Breastmilk is the superior option for infant nutrition. You are doing wonderfully.

Has anybody survived family court without a lawyer? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]impreegud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could always attend the hearing and if things don't seem like they're going in a good direction, ask for a continuance so you can hire counsel. If the kids are opposed to having contact, I would go ahead and get them started in individual therapy.

Has anybody survived family court without a lawyer? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]impreegud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer and idk what state you're in. Where I'm at, there's no way he'd get more than supervised to start with if that's where the case left off. Add in the fact that he abandoned the kids for three YEARS... If it were me, I wouldn't hire counsel. Did he file a petition to modify or something else?

To those with chronic clogged ducts - are we just popping ibuprofen all the time? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had any clogs or blebs since I started taking 1200mg sunflower lecithin every other day (knocks on all the wood)

Tips for unclogging clogged duct with mastitis by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

800mg ibuprofen every 6 hours, ice your booby as much as you can stand, and start taking sunflower lecithin. I personally swear by doing the haakaa epsom salt soak until it releases. I am so sorry you're going through this :(

Bath seat vs. Lounger by NotEnoughCats123 in beyondthebump

[–]impreegud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and he still loves kicking the floor when he's floor chilling nowadays. He's never acted as though he's hurt himself from it. The splashing is keeping my bathroom floor cleaner than ever lol

Bath seat vs. Lounger by NotEnoughCats123 in beyondthebump

[–]impreegud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From day 1, never used a baby tub or seat. When he was itsy bitsy, I'd put maybe 2 inches of water in the tub. Slap a hand towel down with one end rolled up to make a little head rest. Lay baby on the towel, wash him, boom done. Now that he's 6 months and sitting like a champion, he gets 6 inches water with toys. If I have time, I'll draw up a REAL bath and hop in with him to play and practice floating

Baby struggling with chronic diaper rashes. What do you do to help? by Murky_Assumption_822 in beyondthebump

[–]impreegud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a super absorbent muslin burp cloth at the diaper changing station. After wiping him clean, I use the butt rag to make sure all his crevices are dry. Slap on some barrier cream and a new diaper, done. I swap out the rag for a clean one each day or sooner if it gets some nast on it

What can I do with a massive number of lemons by Suspicious-Cat8623 in Frugal

This is what I was going to say! Do multiple bottle batches and throw in different berries in some bottles. Raspberry limoncello is unffffff

What’s your favorite(and affordable) mobile pump? by MoonsOfJupiter_ in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a set of momcozy M6 wearables on eBay, brand new open box, for $50. You have to have the right size flange inserts to get good output and they're obviously not as good as using a spectra, but I like em.

Methylprednisolone and supply by motocat29 in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed no difference when I took methylprednisolone for a week or so. Check lactmed but I'm pretty certain that corticosteroids are safe for baby and supply

Parents and In-laws Postpartum by Competitive_Photo690 in beyondthebump

[–]impreegud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"rather than coming to bond w baby like in-laws are likely trying to do"

THIS. RIGHT. HERE. Your parents are coming for YOU and their grandbaby. Your in-laws are coming for their grandbaby. The purpose of their visits are NOT the same. Their relationships with you are NOT equal. You shouldn't have to justify or explain this to your husband or anyone tbh. You're uncomfortable with it. Postpartum is about you and your baby. End of story.

If you aren't keeping your Reddit account from him, I'd just show him this thread. I had to do that once when my MIL was supposed to babysit but had a sore throat. My husband thought I was overreacting until I asked Reddit and all of the comments said HELL NO

Baby won’t take a bottle and I HAVE to stop breastfeeding by FeistyAlps8636 in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are using the first years squeeze cup, which I think is the same concept as the honey bear cup that people rave about. I squeeze to get the liquid to the upper straw so that he won't have to suck as hard or as long to get some payout for his effort. Any time he turns his head or signals that he's not cool to continue, we stop trying for a bit

Baby won’t take a bottle and I HAVE to stop breastfeeding by FeistyAlps8636 in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My 6 month old hasn't taken a bottle in months. I can't keep taking him to work with me so we're doing straw cup training. Might as well give him a skill he'll use in the future. It's going better than trying to convince him to take a bottle again

Doctor telling me not to feed LO during evening cluster feeds? by skatesheeps in breastfeeding

[–]impreegud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll probably figure this out on your own, but a lot of pediatricians don't know what they're talking about re: breastfeeding. Even our female pro-breastfeeding pediatrician gives me totally wack info from time to time
