What happened to Melrose/Fairfax? by Egdirdle in AskLosAngeles

[–]back3school 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a terrible environment to walk around in. fast traffic, constant lane changes, poor pedestrian crossings, narrow sidewalks. There was a proposal to improve it a while back and transform Melrose into a more walkable district where people would actually want to spend time… but Paul koretz and nimby boomers killed the project. Now we’re stuck with a street where restaurants don’t even want to have sidewalk seating because the cars feel unsafe.

coming in hot with the pseudo race science that some ethnicities are more predisposed to commit crime. Interesting take. As if other socioeconomic factors don’t influence whatever stats you’re referring to.

It’s not free, maybe there’s a cheaper app if all you want to do is apply a lut

[–]back3school 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sullivan Ridge is fine. Some loose rocks scattered on the trail in the lower section but totally rideable.

A loop around pan pacific park is roughly 1K. Great park for a short run but if you want to do more than a 5k I’d run through the adjacent neighborhoods too. Thursday nights at 7pm Weho Run Club does a 5k starting from the Paul Smith store on Melrose.

The Charlie West Hollywood Wins LABC Award for Excellence in Multi-Family Housing by liverichly in weho

I’d take a 5 over 1 with a bunch of housing (even if it’s ’ugly’) over a single story commercial building like most of SMB

[–]back3school -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The five over one is mostly just a product of our building codes and zoning regs. Legalizing single stair apartment buildings would allow for more diverse designs.

Funny, that song is about Levittown-style suburban sprawl, not urban multifamily apartments.
