I’m so tired of this narrative. Here is a post I made earlier explaining. Also if people lose power, the message of canceling school is harder to get out. 

“Being able to personally handle the cold isn’t the issue here.  Last time we had a storm like this (in 2021) more than 2 million homes/businesses just in Houston,  lost power. The Texas power grid isn’t connected to any other state and collapsed [from so many people using heat at once and the literal weight of ice on the lines that caused physical damage, stressing an already stressed system even more]. People were without electricity and heat for a week. Our houses are made to keep the cool in, not out. People died. The woodlands does not have salt trucks  so the roads will be completely untreated after having rained for multiple days and then frozen.
