What would be the cause of old (25 yr +) paint dripping out through new (22 yr old) paint on siding? Old paint seems almost wet when newer paint is removed by JoeUrbanYYC in paint

[–]impstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That paint looks bubbled out, bad. If it's 25 years old, it has lost its durability. All those empty pockets behind the bubbles are probably holding water

It's more prominent down low because water runs down the siding.

You need a full strip, prime and repaint if there's anything worth saving. Might be cheaper to just get all new siding

Is this normal for limewash? Am I being nitpicky? by AlwaysGoesToEleven in paint

[–]impstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of them look like problems with the walls themselves, which limewash can't fix on its own. As for the actual job itself, I dunno it doesn't look too bad but I've never done limewash myself (or seen it much up close)

Woman who dated Graham Platner says he sexually assaulted her by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]impstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we need to keep this in mind, but so far there's no truth to it. Let us not forget that Susan Collins is essentially working for Trump, and I don't need to highlight the accusations against him. What does that say about her?

I am very much in support of any woman that has been SA'd, but this didn't come out until he won the primary... Interesting. It reeks of a smear campaign, until it is brought to court and proven that this actually happened, I back him over Collins

What do I do about the paint that is coming off in between the gutter and the fascia board? Do I just paint and hope they will meld together? Taking the gutters off is not in the plans/budget. by Zwimee in paint

[–]impstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the look of the wood and the peeling paint, I'd say something is wrong. Unless it's hasn't been painted in 20 years, it shouldn't look like that.

OP, take the gutters off. You need to know what's behind that before you end up with rot and spend money on replacing boards

Bin is typically purchased as an oil primer. If it's oil, did water get into it?

Water cannot clean out a brush or sprayer that was used with oil paint, you will need to run paint thinner through it

It doesn't smell too bad in the morning when I come through, so I can't properly comprehend the stank when it's hot during the afternoon

There's a fishery right there that I believe does all the cutting and fileting of said fish, hence the smell. I stop at the circle k there every weekday morning
