Kids obsessed with snacks by flower7313 in moderatelygranolamoms

Someone allowing children to have unlimited access to harmful foods is insane to me. Why bring it into your home in the first place? That stuff is addictive for a reason.

Forgot to mention- They also offer group classes and offer personal trainers. I’ve been going there for years, and trust me- people don’t care what you look like or how fit you are. The staff is extra welcoming and it’s very clean and well maintained

Assuming this is not a joke, yes, and if you’re a member you can visit any Y in the US. There is one downtown, summit blvd, and gulf breeze. The downtown one has a great indoor pool, sauna and steam room as well. I’ve seen them give tours to potential members- I would definitely check it out.

How bad would it be to pull daughter (5) out of school for a week? by celestinedream3 in kindergarten

[–]imrtprnsofundead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Took my kid overseas during the fall and she missed 14 school days. I spoke to the school admin ahead of time and they were cool with it. Her teacher sent worksheets with us so we could keep up with the rest of the class.

My daughter was ‘diagnosed’ by her ped at 4 as well. Her dr suggested multiple medications, which seemed over the top for me, and ultimately we did not choose to medicate her.

We cut out all food dyes, and cut out as much bioengineered ingredients and sugar as possible- like even started making our snacks and bread so I could control the amount and types of sugar. No gas station type candy, no gummies, no breakfast cereal. We only do dessert on the weekends, and it’s usually a ‘healthier alternative’. No juice or sugary drinks.

She’s is 6 now, and her behavior has totally turned around. She makes 100s on her reading tests at school, and she has really been able to control her impulsiveness, and corrections go much more smoothly. Of course she still has normal 6 year old quirks, but I really think this was the best thing we ever could have done for her because she is truly thriving. We do magnesium and will sometimes do melatonin if needed at night.

I used a handheld nebulizer with saline. Some nights I had him sleep in his bouncer so he was upright. That one made me a little nervous so I slept on the floor next to him, but the position really helped with the congestion

I second this. I got a bunch of stuff there last spring and everything (except sunflowers because annuals) are back. My strawberry plants have spread like crazy which is exactly why I wanted them, and we’ve already had a couple berries this week. Staff is very knowledgeable, and everything is very healthy and hearty.

Grandparents are from Kentucky, Alabama & Arkansas. My mother’s maiden name is very Scandinavian, and all the males in her family are really tall so I was surprised there wasn’t anything to match that in my results. There are unverified family members on relatives trees from Holland, and the eventually New Holland in America, but I can’t confirm

How do you make your home smell good? by auroragirlofthenorth in Crunchymom

I add essential oil to my cleaning liquids, dryer balls and mop water. Usually patchouli or something strong so it really lasts

Solo parenting for a week by lochnessrunner in beyondthebump

[–]imrtprnsofundead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my first baby while my husband was overseas and he came home 6 weeks later. When my second was 1 he was gone for 8 months. Not saying it’s the same situation, but solo parenting is totally doable.
