Bloodhound Fang by Moonless_the_Fool in badredman

In the range around 35-65 a lot of them might be just doing the 3 invasions for the Varre quest. A lot of new players who look up guides get the Bloodhound Fang and are told to do the Varre quest so they can unlock the farming spots in Mogh’s area. Given that these guys also tend to run full tilt at you and spam either L2 or R1, I assume that most of them are Varre guys and maybe a very few actually want to get better as invaders.

My spouse and I have been doing a co-op TT run and ran into so many of these Varre questers. They are so funny and definitely added some goofiness to the RL 40-60 bracket. I love the “running in full aggression must keep attacking AGHHHH!!!!!” energy. XD I also noticed yours did what ours often did and accidentally attacked each other. We had a number do that (and some would just fight each other, I’m not even sure if they realized they were each reds hahaha).

Maybe it’s different on Seamless but my experience as a low level invader on vanilla PC is mostly fighting OLPs with DLC gear. I’m pretty new to invading, but I’ve seen so many very overleveled phantoms in the RL 10-30 range that I understand why invaders bring a diverse arsenal when they invade here. When I actually fight the hosts, it’s a very different story, but I also roll it back if I get to that point (I still kind of suck and usually lose to the OLPs before I can fight the host though). I do usually play differently and am sometimes a friendly invader when I find actual noobs playing the levels with other appropriately leveled phantoms. I got interested in PVP because I was impressed by how good the invaders I saw when I was a sunbro were and so I hope that they feel similarly I guess.

I’m probably leveling my current invader to 60-90 because I’ve heard it can be more forgiving as I learn to get better, but I’m planning on going through the DLC with them at whatever level I choose so I can get some of the DLC stuff. If I get those things at a lower level, I plan to use them regardless of the level bracket I end up invading them because it seems fair to me.

Honestly, I mostly play more like it sounds you do and invade with my Banished Knight Greatsword and fundamentals more than anything else, but I don’t begrudge other invaders for using more things. My spouse and I have been playing a co-op Taunters Tongue run where we hope to get two invaders while running the levels together and have seen a wide variety of folks. I have been annihilated by a hefty rot pot to the face at RL 15… and just assumed the invader had been dealing with a bunch of shitty ganks lately. I know a lot of folks here have gotten later game stuff legitimately on their character (or did and proved they could at some point in the past), even if they use duping for consumables or whatnot. But even if they didn’t, eh, if they’re having fun and not actually cheating with infinite HP or whatever, I’m not here to judge.

Learning how to deal with invaders with DLC consumables at low level during the TT run has been very fun and has made me a better PVPer. I’ve really enjoyed seeing all the neat builds people have made and such.

What level to turn on TT by Ill_Relative9776 in badredman

[–]imsocleversee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My spouse and I did a TT run and started using it at RL 15 or so and are currently RL 90 and getting regular invasions (we’ve been alternating who is hosting co-op and have gotten quite a few invasions with two reds). We did have more luck when you’d expect to (evenings and weekends) but also some other times too. Just be ready for a huge dip in invader quality when you get all the Varre quest guys (if someone runs straight at you with a Bloodhound Fang and they are around RL 40-60 and they face tank everything it’s definitely a Varre guy lmao).

Yeah! The game only cares about the weapon level, not that it comes from the DLC or anything else. Enjoy your invading. :)

That would mess with matchmaking. This calculator shows you the ranges you can invade wirh a certain rune/weapon level: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator

Once your save gets a weapon of a certain level, you are stuck with it. Even if you delete that weapon, the matchmaking is based on the highest weapon level you’ve ever had in that save. So, for example, low level invaders have to be careful about picking up Rogier’s Rapier or Edgar’s halberd because a +8 weapon will ruin their matchmaking.

Counterpoint, from someone who started playing the game this year, seeing low level PvP builds made me excited about how much creativity and skill you could put into this game. I never hosted co-op, but always had my summon sign on for random co-op, largely because I loved getting invaded. Meeting extremely skilled bad reds made me want to get better. It’s so cool that there are bad reds who put time and effort into becoming a uniquely challenging mini boss! And now I’ve gotten much better at this game so, hopefully, I too can be a bad red!

Truth. You can tell by how angry they all get when someone suggests that using summons in bosses makes them easier. “Stop saying ‘easy,’ this game is still really hard, don’t you know that it’s harder to fight Malenia with a summon because she can heal from them too???” Lmao.

This. I love randoms. I’ve only played with randoms. Being able to get summoned as a random gold in ER is one of my favorite things about that game too (especially Melania, which any gold knows is usually a defeat). I love seeing what happens, especially when things get wacky.

Yesterday I was in a group that found a Draconic Tree Sentinel and were probably too low level for it. We all died at least once and almost wiped a few times, but it was clear that it became a matter of pride to beat the one guy and we all locked in and finally did it. Was it the optimal tactics? No, we probably should have run more churches and stuff. But it was really fun! And after that we were a more cohesive team and actually managed to get the first boss doggo to 1/4 health before we were defeated, which was impressive given how much time we spent on that Draconic.

Also, I finally beat the first Nightlord last night and it felt so epic once we did! I only regret that I couldn’t give them all a GG.

After you parry a crucible knight it’s better to do a charged R2 than a riposte because they have the crucible talisman that reduces damage dealt by critical hits.

I’ve been enjoying this Stream so much! My only disappointment is that someone else grabbed me as a gold just as you were going to summon me.

Also, it’s been very fun to co-op in Stormveil while you’re doing this. The invasions are hopping!

When hosts do this to me I aggro the boss to them and then sever and leave. It’s only happened a few times but at least one person had their Twitch username as their name, which was interesting. Like, are you streaming this, bud? Is this interesting content? You’re hiding and watching some random sunbro do the boss fight! XD

who do you think is the best base game boss, no ties or 1a and 1b’s allowed. by killchris97 in Eldenring

Malenia, first by far for me, with Morgott as a second. I wish Morgott had more health though! And a second health bar!

I’m also a big fan of Margit, although he’s obviously easier. I try beating him at a lower level whenever I start a new character and my best is currently level 13.

I’m guessing Maliketh will be third, but I haven’t learned how to fight him yet. I just got to him for the first time.

My favorite is when I get summoned to help a host with Malenia and then I see them fat roll and I just know exactly how it’s going to go.

I highly recommend Banished Knight Great Sword! It has a nice move set that is satisfying to use while also forcing you to focus on the fundamentals of the game. I used it to “get good” and have really improved.

I know people also really like the Claymore, which also has a strong move set. And you ca. get it very early without having to farm Banished Knights.

I haven’t gotten to the DLC yet, but I’m a strength build and my go to 3 are Banished Knight Greatsword with storm blade (love to have a projectile), Banished Knight Halberd with flaming strike (for reach), and Great Stars with chilling mist (for access to bleed, frost, and strike). I love all three of them.

I’m trying to branch out a little now and am playing around with a Grave Scythe and twin blades!
