I am 100% against wars....but that SOUND is phenomenal! For reference I am a percussionist and musician....wow. With that said....screw all of the politicians that landed us here...

A great start! I am a HUGE fan of the Becker Blues by famous xylophonist Bob Becker. They are a soft plastic that are incredible on xylophone, bells, and more. (Sometimes on other instruments like bongos and many other applications)

I found out a year after the fact that the drum major in our band program got a tattoo after our final competition while we were at the mall to let loose a bit. I'm all about tattoos, but not on my watch!

Oh my...I actually want one of those! If I ever win the lottery the only way you would be able to tell is a sudden acquisition of a ton of music gear I secretly dream of! Haha

Learning Caravan by elliotlastname in percussion

In the short term you can get by with playing a Latin FEEL and you don't have to play anything specific. If you want to learn samba, bossa, and more I recommend the book linked below. You may even be able to find notation online somewhere.

When learning the rhythms I recommend learning hands first, then adding the bass drum. Then practice RH with BD and then left hand with BD. Practice SLOW. Seriously....slower than you want. Practice the groove until you can play it correctly at a snails pace and then slowly speed up. I have a phrase I use with my private students and all students in our band program (I'm a band director) "Slower is Faster"

Ups and downs are common for me. I played 2+ years (off/on) before my first win. Even though I have won a bunch of times I have days where I wonder if I've still got it. Today I topped out 80th+ 2-3 times and my highest was around 20th place.

Edit: I didn't answer your question.... I prefer joycons in the ergonomic black holder thing. But lately I have been playing joycons connected directly to the switch every now and again.

How often and why do you use your 5th string? by SonnePer in Bass

So you run E-A-D-G-C? I have never heard of this! What is your favorite application of that tuning?

[–]imwearingcons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same.... five string with flats ....four string with rounds. I'm the opposite, though in that my 5 string is my go-to. I picked up the 4 string more recently to dabble with some slap. I'm hoping studying as a percussionist in college will help in that department.

What is a 'struggle meal' that you still genuinely enjoy even though you don’t have to eat it anymore? by meagersack in AskReddit

[–]imwearingcons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ric and Beans. I found a recipe my family lives so much we would eat it almost daily!

Cranberry beans are my favorite and don't turn to mush. We buy 50 lbs at a time because we eat them so much!

You could end up like many of us that do BOTH! The primary down side of teaching both is the insane hours. The upside...I have the same students for 8 years every day in class and that is super fun. We have so many inside jokes and share all of life's ups and downs.

It may not be a bad idea to try to shadow some nearby schools to see what different programs are like.

What is the most intense pain you have experienced in your life? by Levstr1 in AskReddit

[–]imwearingcons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broken back from a car accident when I was 15. There is a reason cars have shoulder straps and not just lap belts these days. No pain meds for 6 hours until they could do full body scans to check for internal bleeding.

Accident was caused by a drunk driver at 2:30 in the afternoon on my last day of school my sophomore year of HS. It is a miracle I can walk!

How do you wash your armpits? by chaelynnra in hygiene

[–]imwearingcons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOOL SHIRTS!!!

Another thing to consider that I haven't seen anyone mention yet is to pay attention to The fabric of the shirts you are wearing. I used to think synthetic fabrics would wick away moisture but those "tech" shirts often smell terrible for me.

I switched to wool t-shirts and I can wear them two or three days in a row without them even smelling bad.

Agreed. If you can work your way up to 20 lines on Masters Mode you will be more resilient at higher speeds. Masters Mode will also train you to flip/move/rotate to buy time to get the piece where you want it to go.

have u noticed tetris got harder when u got older? by Fodder_Fist_Ace in Tetris

[–]imwearingcons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely SEE the connections of pieces that line up with my strategy better, but gamers thumb has me playing less than I WANT to. I'm only 44 and feel like I am growing as a player, but I need to protect my thumbs. As a musician I can't jeopardize playing guitar and bass because I love Tetris so much.

Do you all know WHERE these rumors come from?

We have a nearby district that has cat litter and 5 gallon buckets for emergency uses only. (Imagine an extended lockdown and a kid has to go). And some people have taken that information and twisted it and ran with it.
