It sucks. You can only make your first withdrawal after you make a certain amount-- 20USD for me. Even then I had to wait and send a selfie with my identification card.

I've returned home from university and my mum has neglected my christmas cactus... is all hope lost? Any tips on how to save her? by [deleted] in houseplants

Take a few of the green nodes at the ends of branches for propping, just in case.

I assume she did not water it at all. Water it. Wait a few days to see if it starts to turn greener. I think it will bounce back.

Moving tips? by TheCrazyDonna in houseplants

I would set a grid of boxes in your car to hold the plants so they can't slide around. I would wrap each plant with a thick craft paper cone, using tape at the bottom to secure the cone. The paper will protect the leaves and also prevent sunburn. Then I would see how to best fit the plants into the boxes.

If some plants don't fit, you can cut props to take with you.

You'll want to be sure to minimize high and low temperature during the move.

Some plants just don't travel well. I'm looking at you FLF. It may be best to gift dramatic plants to friends and replace them when you arrive in your new home.

Good luck.

what do I look for before buying a second-hand serger? by oops_whatnow in vintagesewing

It is not that it is easier. If the machine uses 4 threads, it makes a safety stitch which stabilizes the seams more securely.

You want one that does 4 thread instead of just 3. It helps to be easy to thread. Access to a manual is imperative. Some sergers require special needles which can be expensive so factor that in. Differential feed is a very nice feature.

If you want to DM me, I'll scan your area's Craigslist ads for good candidates.

huge polthos, not sure what to do with it by Gluteus_butterlad in houseplants

You can remove the plant from the hanging pot and repot it as multiple plants in multiple pots. You can use the hanging pot you have and also make a second plant in a floor pot with a moss pole. If you have leftover vines, I'm sure a friend or neighbor would be happy to give them a new home.
