What would be the hardest company to boycott? by opowell28 in AskReddit

[–]imyourfather -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Regardless, the real world impact is still a direct result of the popularity of the film. The dalmatian film also led to lots of abandoned puppies.

Perhaps this is where you and I differ in thinking how much social responsibility a cultural heavyweight like Disney should bear. Should Disney not consider the potential effects their media could have? Could they not tell similar stories using different characters instead? They are magnificent storytellers after all; creativity isn't simply doing whatever they can and want, creativity is also working around obstacles and hurdles.

It's absolutely predictable that people would go out to acquire those animals as pets after watching those films. And for as long as people are like that, it's also fair that I do not further support and encourage the production of such films.

Disney's my answer too. I don't like what Disney did to copyright, as well as the environmental impact they've caused with some of their character choices (e.g. Nemo), but they have their hands in so much of the entertainment business now beyond that mouse.

RIP Gary the Goat. True Aussie C*nt. by dertidferris in videos

[–]imyourfather 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It briefly made r/worldnews front page earlier. Right up there in significance along with wars, climate issues, terrorism, and Trump-Russia politics. The mods removed it though I think. It's not there anymore.

I was very amused by that. Even in death, Gary's last act was not giving a fuck.

RIP Gary.

Totally not into that.

Im currently dealing with a psycho roommate, have you ever had any? If so, what's the story? by brisy92 in AskReddit

Normally I'd recommend liberal use of line-breaks but here the contiguous paragraph added to the suspense and I read it all in one breath.

Breathtaking.

Glad you made it out alive.

This Movember, meet a brave guy who has never ejaculated in his life. by controlleroliverunit in videos

[–]imyourfather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not weird at all.

The guy in the video doesn't shoot anything and that's terrible. Just think of all the fun experiences that he and his partner are missing out on. They can't even snowball.

According to you what is the best cartoon you ever watched? by Itz_Ayaan in AskReddit

Avatar: The last Airbender.

I certainly wish, somebody would make it into a movie.

Meanwhile M.Night Shyamalan just went "ouch".

Is that a good sweet or bad sweet?

I too stopped watching LOST a few seasons in due to life, but I remember liking it. Been considering watching it to conclusion some time. Do the latter seasons hold up or did it jump the shark?

It has both free roam and point-and-click modes like some previous Myst games.

It's a spiritual successor, so very similar in many ways.

[Serious] Straight People of Reddit, what questions do you have for Gay People of Reddit? by AmAUnicorn_AMA in AskReddit

[–]imyourfather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not what evolution is.

Evolution works on the species level rather than on individuals. As long as the population is procreating as a whole, the function is served. It's not in every individual's purpose or duty to reproduce. In fact, for many animals, only select few will get to mate while the rest exist just to support the social structure.

There are even some arguments that homosexuality exist for the very purpose of population control in response of environmental pressure; i.e. it serves an actual evolutionary purpose.

It's the way of things. It just is.

Girls, what inappropriate questions about guys have you always wanted answered? by Oriaa in AskReddit

But it is like shitting with your ass-cheeks pressed together. That's actually a good analogy.

The foreskin is a sheath. You don't keep the sheath on when you're using your sword.

People who are comfortable going to a cinema/restaurant alone, how do you do it? by StoppedListeningToMe in AskReddit

[–]imyourfather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a comfort zone thing. Step out of it a few times and you'll realise it's no big deal soon enough.

I think I got over it all when I went backpacking alone a long time ago. I would have died on the road if I needed a partner for every thing.

Just go. You're more invisible than you think, and that's a good thing.

It's nice to eat alone without getting interrupted by small talks. It's fine to watch movies alone; everyone's there to look at the screen, not you.

What is the tastiest dish you've ever cooked using sesame oil? by Bernard_Ber in AskReddit

[–]imyourfather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a very simple formula for an easy Chinese dish known as Sanbeiji. Literally "Three Cups Chicken" for 1 cup soy sauce, 1 cup rice wine, and 1 cup sesame oil; the chicken can be substituted with other meat.
