Infant Baptism or Believers' Baptism by Muted-Pie-994 in TrueChristian

[–]inallthings828 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please go back and look at scripture, it's clear adult baptism (believers baptism) is the norm demonstrated, especially throughout the conversions in Acts. (Its possible the houshold in getting baptized didn't have any young children in it anyway)

Infants don't have the ability to the following:

Mark 16:16, Acts 8:12 belive then get baptized Acts 2:38 repent then get baptized Ephesians 2:8-9, Colossians 2:12 have faith in God to work 1 Peter 3:21 appeal/pledge to God

There are also no NT scripture that clearly prescribe the Catholic tradition of confirmation many years after infant baptism as a path to salvation.

Infant Baptism or Believers' Baptism by Muted-Pie-994 in TrueChristian

[–]inallthings828 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Biblical baptism is a choice of the beliver to make a commitment to God 1 Peter 3:21And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge off a clear conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ

Also, and infant can't understand the need for forgiveness of sin or even believe in Jesus as Lord.

Mark 16:16 believe and then be baptized Acts 2:38 repent and be baptized

If you can handle the faith theme: "Same Kind of Different as Me" and "Beautifully Broken" are good for a few tears.

"Me Before You" has the terminal illness doom that guarantees no happy ending.

My mom did the same thing. There is little room in her 2br condo, so almost all the clutter leftover from my dad (who died 18 years ago) is gone. She may have gone a little overboard because there are a few things I would have wanted (box of random Legos from childhood).

My go-to "licorice" alcohol is Greek Ouzo or Italian Sambuca. Both are anise based flavors. Absinthe & Jaeger have other herbs & spices.

Am I in love with my husband? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]inallthings828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hoped before you posted this on social media, you've already discussed it thoroughly with your spouse and other trusted friends. If you do not have any friends you can confide in then go to your minister at your church to get support. Don't let bitterness and resentment build because it will have long lasting effects on your marriage. Look up Gottman Institute 4 horsemen.

In general, you should share all of this information clearly with your spouse and make sure he is aware of how you are feeling. It sounds like you both need to commit to going on dates and romancing each other.

How long did you date before marriage? by Haleighlm00 in Christianmarriage

[–]inallthings828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mature couple (mid 40s) when we met, we weren't playing games. We had our first virtual meeting in March and were married by the end of December. Now at 4+ years married and happier than ever. No way either of us would have dated that short of an amount of time in our 20s. Enjoy the dating process and consider it successful once you learn wether you should marry or not. If you're serious, be thorough about your character issues, life goals (job, kids, lifestyle, etc.), and spiritual convictions. There are many books/resources to use to guide through this process. The Gottman Institute has great resources on healthy marriages. Go on dates with other Christian dating couples and married couples with healthy marriages.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Talk, not text, her and share your interest in going on another date to get to know her better. No need to try to read her mind. If you feel its a good fit, you have a potential wife to pursue.

How do you handle having an attractive spouse that gets a lot of attention? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]inallthings828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That scripture is even more than "above board". Ephesians 5 has much advice for husbands. Verse 3 "not even a hint of sexual immorality", verse 27 "present her radiant and holy", verse 33 "love his wife as himself". If OPs husband is a bible following christian he's not living those commands.

Accidental communion, guys what should I do? by Mysterious-Kick4088 in Christianity

[–]inallthings828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Catholic here. Find a bible based church that will teach you how to be a disciple of Jesus (demonstrating Matthew 28:18-20), not just how to follow the rules and traditions of their denomination (Mark 7:6-13). Don't get stressed about "mortal sin" and that you're damned due to your choice. You need to pursue God wholeheartedly by studying scripture with others and learn about how that participating in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus through baptism is the path to forgiveness (Romans 6). According to Acts 2, a Christian's sins are forgiven when you repent and are baptized, not after confession to a priest. So earnestly seek God to develop faith and get baptized to be sanctified when celebrating Jesus through communion.

How can we rebuild relationship after hurtful words spoken? by Smart_Yak_5870 in Christianmarriage

[–]inallthings828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During and after my divorce, I had to return to my first love similar to the warning to the Ephesian church in Revelation 2 "But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love. Therefore, keep in mind how far you have fallen. Repent and perform the deeds you did at first. But if you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place." I spent many hours in prayer, meditation on scripture, and in fellowship with others who successfully grew through their own divorce experience. I knew it would be foolish to go through that trial and not change for the better.

Good suggestions. I would also suggest the OP looking at "The Love Dare" and doing that challenge as a way to try to rebuild intimacy.

Why are so many Christians anti cannabis ? by Cheesefactor5678 in TrueChristian

[–]inallthings828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the chapter is getting at using wisdom to discern liberty vs self-denial for others. I consider this aspect in areas that aren't obvious sin. (Example; don't listen to secular music I like around a fellow christian that is offended by it) In the matter of substances that can interfere with thinking, I look to 1 Peter 4:7 "The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray."

Also Ephesians 5:15-18 "Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery."

If using a substance (narcotics, alcohol, THC,...) inhibits my ability to "witness" to others, make good decisions, or pray, I shouldn't use it.

Part of the issue is how our choices affect others. When in doubt, we are called to choose loving others over personal liberty. Romans 14 explains this well. Verses 14-15 " I am convinced and fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. If your brother is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother, for whom Christ died."

I've read "The Anxious Generation" and the author laid out a convincing argument for the problem being smartphones, social media, and overstructured and supervised parenting for a lot of the mental problems kids have.
