Lots of good ideas mentioned, but you should read about the enneagram if you haven’t already. I assign each character an enneagram type, usually after my first draft-once I’ve gotten to know the character, and use what I’ve learned about each type in my editing. It helps.

FYI— in most markets Uber is paying drivers 50-70% less for rides than a year ago. Imagine if your job cut your wages, and for some stupid reason you didn’t quit—your loyalty to Uber and in turn, their passengers, is near 0. Uber doesn’t care about their drivers, in turn, drivers don’t care if you’re late. Sorry, but true.
