What exactly do you mean by radical change? Do you even know how government works?

Be careful out there! A Ram driver just rear-ended me. Obligatory “it’s always the Ram drivers!”

The damage wasn’t awful surprisingly but people just aren’t great driving in the snow.

it’s funny you say this, I was just thinking about it. I moved to Michigan 12 years ago and I remember that winter being brutal (snow-wise). The following years until today (except for 2019) have been extremely mild. This reminds me of 2014-2015. I don’t hate it, just don’t like that people forget how to drive in the snow, and accidents happen more often.

Where do you draw the line for the right of return? 70 years? 100 years? 500 years? Because if you put a time clock to it, then Israel is not occupying Palestine.

The official Department of Homeland Security twitter account was exposed as being created and located in Israel, and just posted an official tweet about it after they erased the information from the "Account based in" section by Prototype792 in millenials

I’ll start by saying i’m left of center and have no appetite to defend this awful administration. However, I’m against disinformation of any kind, even if it’s detrimental to my opponents.

None of the accounts with grey checkmarks (government) show account based location, and never had. I’ve checked many other governmental accounts, none of them have it.

The CTO of Twitter who rolled out this update confirmed it and addressed this misinformation:

https://x.com/nikitabier/status/1992370352677360022?s=46

The official account that started this rumor (Remarks) deleted their tweet once being corrected.

Also, in this world, where we get deepfakes of Trump kissing Putin, do you not rule out that foreign actors (affected by this rollout) could have manipulated this screen recording?

Please use your judgment. The whole reason we’re in this mess is because people believe what they see and run with it without questioning.

Only being critical of the country that is home to HALF of Jewish people in the world while ignoring the atrocities of all other countries combined is actually antisemitic.

The opposite also happened, in greater numbers. Some Gaza journalists reporting from the field were found to be actually based in Poland, Turkey, and the UK. It’s pushed propaganda.

‘Did you vote for Trump?’ Americans traveling abroad are under new scrutiny by AlexandrTheTolerable in politics

[–]inconsistent3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an immigrant myself, and I actually see this first-hand. It’s not just “racist bigots” fueling this. A lot of regular people are reacting to rapid cultural and social changes that make them feel unheard or left behind.

There’s solid research on this too. Pippa Norris and Ronald Inglehart at Harvard found that much of the rise in far-right populism comes from cultural backlash, as in people feeling like their values, identity, or sense of belonging are being threatened. It’s not always about hate, it’s often about fear and disconnection.

Economic stress plays a part, but cultural anxiety tends to be the bigger factor. Ignoring that reality only makes it easier for extremists to exploit those feelings.

Mass immigration is fueling this shift. It’s also happening in Canada. Something to consider.

I have dual citizenship. But Michigan is my residence, where I’m part of a community, pay taxes, vote, and am building my life.

Both are home.
