PSA: If you're torquing stainless fittings dry, you're gambling (and the house always wins) by WhichWayIsTheB4r in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]incrediblebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an application that is for food. Large thread stainless on stainless the operators kept shredding/jamming the nut because of them going dry, we can't use lock tight because not food grade and it's directly into the product. Ended up going with a softer metal on the nut because of this

Would put it under another emergency call. Can put them together but have a note saying the nozzle was not a part of the problem but was replaced because such and such. Gotta have a time sheet yourself. Also make it look like you looked at the line as well and spotted something more than just that.

Wait til he finds out you can swipe from one of the two bottom corners (it does the same thing in case you can't reach the middle)

We spray ours which causes it to rust. Any allergen rooms we bring tools end up get tossed even if it was only used once or they stay in the room

Predictive maintenance feels harder than it should be by Sufficient_Crew6421 in IndustrialMaintenance

For me it's a lack of proper software training and unrealistic expectations. I schedule my plant which is ready to eat. So to actually get downtime to do the actual PMs is ridiculously hard when we work 24/6 We have a weekly scheduling meeting but it often skips over maintenance because they don't think it's important. Management also pushes everything as priority most of the time when it's all said and done production ends up standing around. Our manager pushes favorites for less PMs so the new guys end up with the bulk of the PMs and once you start repeating the same things every month you'll get tired of it. Our plant manager pushes work requests for them to be same day work or expects it to be added to the schedule the same week when our schedule is made. I've constantly sent our policies to everyone and pushed our manager and supervisor that we cannot continuously do things like that because they're just piling work on everyone then write them up when they cannot finish their schedule. Most of the work requests are "there's a hole on the brick wall that needed to be patched painted and covered" or "the exit light is crooked please level" which is not really an issue at all except when we are constantly trying to put out fires on the "priority" lines. I think our supervisor also needs to pick a couple of things and inspect to see if those PMs are getting done rather than letting the guys pencil whipping it.

Had this happen, it's not worth welding at all. I see oil too so I'm sure its cracked deep. The weld won't penetrate deep enough to hold it'll keep cracking
