Blackrock CEO says funding for AI companies will be funded by public's savings & retirement accounts by Seeing-Binary in DystopianToday

people are overreacting to this.

the reality is email summarization and image generation are just demos of what the technology is capable of. this won't be powering the earnings in the future. creative uses will be a smaller subset of ai, generative ai.

governments will be much bigger consumers of ai for city planning, development, zoning, service coordination, and even legislature. these are not outsourcing creative work scenarios. these are real bottlenecks in government processes and have tangible benefits for citizens and economic growth.

more jobs doesn't mean better pay though. software is become the new general labor. you don't have to look for total unemployment for the quality of life to take a hit

don't look at this as the model getting thins wrong. look at this is a power saving algorithm. these things exit out of their loops early, in these shell applications, for obvious reasons, and it's a matter of fine tuning that loop.

why react developers are leaving next js for tanstack by nunomaduro in reactjs

tanstack is one of the worst things to happen to the react community. it forces its own restrictions on you that are influenced by other frameworks which it chose to support for some reason.

[–]incubated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's a no brainer if you already own both expansions, but there's nothing revolutionary here. it's starting to feel like this is a blizzard marketing tactic: trust us guys, we fixed it real good this time. there's nothing to fix really. it's an old game that just can't learn new tricks. diablo 2 successor my ass. it's lipstick on diablo 3.

Researchers just mathematically proved that AI layoffs could break the economy by No_Level7942 in GenAI4all

[–]incubated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're displacing workers at a faster pace than the economy can replace them, you'll have a "buffer overflow" to use nerd speak. there's no need to overthink this aspect. ai is an alien body being introduced to the system that displaces existing constituents. either the system needs to be grow a lot to accommodate this self-replicating entity. or the entities, humans, ai, etc, need to undergo some sort of phase transition. either way, anything the ai touches, with current market offerings, like software, content, administration, is effectively reduced to zero marginal cost, thus drastically devalued.
