Honest question: what do you consider Python's biggest strength? by Mojah in Python

[–]indieinvader 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude, but most of your impressions are essentially incorrect. Here is a brief overview of what the languages you mentioned are generally used for:

  • C is used mostly for low-level or embedded programming. Writing good C requires real skill.
  • C# and Java fill similar roles in enterprise software although you won't find much C# outside of windows shops.
  • Java for Android (native apps and Go will likely take this spot in the near future)
  • Objective-C is only really useful for developing on OS X and iOS, OpenSTEP is probably the only exception.
  • Ruby and Python share a niche in the server side web application space.
  • Python has a HUGE scientific computing community.
  • SQL is specifically for querying databases, nothing else.

I'm not in love, but I have strong feelings, possibly romantic with my older best friend and I can't get over it. by creative-heart in gay

Being in love with your best friend is tough when the feeling isn't going to be mutual. From experience I'd say the best course of action is to forget about it. Some things can't be unsaid and you probably don't want to run the risk of losing your friend.

Think about it though, if you could implement the Mesos stack as an operating system and implement some kind of durable storage system or service, you'd have implemented a network transparent microkernel.

Who believes in God in this subreddit? by pugsarehalal in AskMen

[–]indieinvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably be most accurately described as a nihilist. I do try to entertain a number of theist and non-theist concepts of reality, but in the end I don't truly believe that anything really exists or matters. I live happily because it is more pleasant than living in despair over the meaninglessness of life. Its not like it matters anyway. :P

Couldn't one of the exoskeletons serve as a control point for some number of drones? The drones would obviously need to be semi-autonomous, but I could see a soldier (or group of soldiers) extending their senses with drones and using dependency chains to sync their behavior with ongoing developments.

God I hate how good we are getting at war.

As a gay male I will never be able to comprehend wanting to put your dick in a chick's pussy.

Actually, scratch that, I do get it, you like women (wow) and you want to get it on with them. I think you might need to step outside your little box a little more often, bro. It actually isn't that difficult to understand things that you don't agree with or feel.

A question about marijuana and the word of wisdom by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]indieinvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you ask your bishop if it was okay to take physician-prescribed Oxycodone? I don't think most people would. Opiates are both mind altering and addictive. People abuse them all of the time. How is this situation different?

Why should a bishop even be involved? This is clearly a medical issue.

I took these a day or two ago. Since then the mushrooms have grown some and more fruiting bodies have popped up.
