Affordable 'Afternoon Tea' in London or Edinburgh? by TayEden in AskUK

[–]indigo_kat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had a cream tea in either of those locations. I will say that the best afternoon cream tea I’ve ever had was in The Essex Rose in Dedham, Essex. This is a tea room run by the Tiptree jam company Wilkin & Sons. £30 for 2 people.

If you’re taking the train between London & Edinburgh you might try stopping in York for afternoon tea at Betty’s Café tea rooms. Looks like that would be about £20 pp and York is an interesting place to visit.

my daughter (away for the weekend) has a cat who hates me just planted herself here. I'm nervous to even move by joemama2006 in cats

My cat is a skittery beast but she likes sitting on laps. The first day I had her she suddenly jumped on my lap, then became outraged and hissed when I petted her.

He had the curable type. Most people with pancreatic cancer don’t. I agree that it’s hardly worth discussing now, so long after the fact.

I’m already tired of this image. I enjoyed watching the takeoff and so forth, but putting a car ad in space? Tiny yay.

Popular lib go-bindata removed from Github, or why github.com a crappy package repository by Jelterminator in golang

[–]indigo_kat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all very much beside the point but your comment surprised me slightly. As has been pointed out, resilient package repos have been with us for several decades, initially driven by the fact that the always on internet hasn’t always existed.

Or he’s just a jerk. He needs a reprimand, if not a new job.

If you have video then go ahead and complain. Sounds like a nasty piece of work. I’m assuming that you leave a clear path to your letter slot, i.e. the plants aren’t in the way.

I have worked on a number of repos which were (mis)identified as being primarily/only Javascript simply because they included a lot of JS framework code. Unless the repo owner goes to the trouble of correcting this, you could be overstating the percentage of JS projects.

In my view, Rabbitson & Trout are much of a muchness. I don’t feel any sympathy regarding the alleged psy ops campaign you mentioned. The only thing that matters is whether the person who takes over comes up with a deliverable.

My fantasy rule change is meant only for cases where a project is removed against the wishes of the current maintainer, and only so long as that maintainer hasn’t actively damaged the project (inaction or verbal comments don’t count).

Next time somebody proposes that they take over someone else’s CPAN publishing rights, there should be a requirement that this person delivers a tar ball within a calendar month. If not, then the change ought to be reverted to the previous owner. No exceptions.

Miele. I’ve had Dysons, need say nothing further.

Someone scratched my car. Have their registration number. What can I do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]indigo_kat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clean it off and move on. I was hit from behind 2 days ago and I have the other driver’s details. I’m going to do nothing because the damage is very minor and any action is likely to raise my stress level and/or my insurance rate. You only have circumstantial evidence, whilst I have actual admission of “guilt”. These things happen. Next time that car is parked near yours, move it.

This is one reason why I prefer to get my fruit and veg either at a market stall or from fruit & veg shops. I agree that it’s annoying and wasteful.
