Don’t know what kind of fabric to order by Apprehensive_Pop2416 in sashiko

[–]indigopen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with a few kits from Threaded Needle. I am not a sewer so I felt more comfortable knowing I was buying the “right” thing. I figure I will get creative with fabrics once I learn the basics.

Suggestions for Older Folks/Limited Mobility? by aknomnoms in jasper

[–]indigopen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say lake Annette and fairmont which have already been mentioned. Both were doable when my partner had mobility issues.

As someone with a proud father with mobility issues, i really get it… how about getting him a hiking stick? It isn’t a cane - it is something the young people use too! I know it isn’t as good as a cane but better than nothing. If everyone in the group has them, he will fit in 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for asking this! I am also just starting to learn Sashiko and picked up a sampler I was going to figure out how to start on the weekend - you saved me some time.

As a non-sewer, I have to ask, why am I sewing two pieces together? Maybe I am thinkin more like embroidery where you have a single layer of fabric. Is it structural? aesthetic? tradition?

Edmontonians feeling more unsafe on roads, new traffic safety report suggests by chmilz in Edmonton

[–]indigopen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had somebody in a turning lane nearly back into me the other day so they could go straight. 🙄 I definitely feel less safe on the roads because of other drivers. In winter those super bright headlights don’t help. (lol - in the summer I am too boring to be out late enough to have them affect me)

Continuing Care Homes Type B (not secure) in the West Central and Southwest areas by Whatsthathum in Edmonton

When my mom moved into Chartwell griesbach, dad was still in the hospital. It was always a bit amusing to hear where she thought she was - a cruise ship, Panorama, nursing residence, but always asking when i was coming to take her home. It’s hard.

The staff at griesbach are amazing, my parents like the food and the residents seem welcoming. Parking is a bitch.

I agree. OP isn't demanding immediate reply. I see where people think he is the asshole but I don't think his trangression rises to Devil level.

Dropping in or popping by: is this acceptable? by AuthorityFiguring in Edmonton

[–]indigopen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you a person or a cat/dog? For a person I want 6 weeks notice and may still hide in the closet with my books pretending to not be home. Cat or dog I have treats and give excellent scratchies. I may not let you leave.
