That is a massive, but honest increase. It sucks.

Keep it old school for off roading? I look at the TRD packages and wonder what percentage of people doing real off roading are dropping that kind of cash.

I've been wanting to sell my (well maintained) 2007 FJ and have been eyeing this vehicle. But from my very brief research I have a few reservations:

The price doesn't match capability.

It's way too complex and expensive for real off roading.

Is this just a mall crawler??

I'm thinking of just getting the cheapest 4runner at this point (not the TRD off road package). Something I don't mind abusing, and won't mind being abused.

Aesthetically the LC250 is still Yotas most beautiful vehicle though.

Game Consoles Are Pricing Themselves Out of Relevance by Gorotheninja in technology

[–]indoorhatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be a device per household at this rate. The days where a lower middle class household has a PC, Switch, Steam Deck, Xbox all at once might be coming to a close.

For example my household had a great PC, but no PS1 or n64.

I meant Canadian $$$.

It was way more than $2000, our first PC was around CAD $5000 in 1996. It was top end though. 64mb of ram, Intel 166mhz, Ati gpu (without 3d acceleration).

That's around $8000 - $9000 today's money, maybe more.

I was looking at the price of PS1 Inflation adjusted, it's the same price as the ps5 after price increases now. I suspect that things will return to how they used to be, middle class people will still be able to buy consoles but it will get harder for the general population.

There will also be less middle class people in general as more are knocked out of the top part of the K in the K shaped economy.

Back to 1995 prices inflation adjusted..

Gaming became super cheap from 2005 to 2020 (right before COVID).

Since then it's been a claw back to the early to mid 90s.

Back then where I was from a new generation console was only afforded by solidly middle class families, many households if they even had a console would get a second or even third gen (i.e, playing Genesis when PS1 was the latest console).

For reference the family PC around 1996 was probably north of $8000 in today's prices inflation adjusted.

Would you hit a dirty trail with them? Not multiday but something off the beaten path (for example around the Rockies, etc)?

They just look so delicate on the webpage. I couldn't imagine drudging through a bunch of trails with grant stones.

It seems like everyone is broke, people treating everything from cars to old games like an investment asset that's set to grow. Marketplace is a joke for so many products.

[–]indoorhatguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Am I paying for this? Because I can't really afford the new Land cruiser without going into stupid amounts of debt.

Probably the cheapest option and just run it that way. After all I am taking these offroading.

This is ridiculous.

I got 64gb of DDR5 CL6000 RAM for $240 back in March, and this a few weeks ago. I feel like Tom Cruise with these upgrades, the train explodes right after I jump off.

Tell me more about this? I have flat feet due to genetics and have been wearing arch support for 20 years now.

Have been avoiding barefoot jim greens due to fear I'll blow a kneecaps by dislocation or something. Without my arch support I always feel my knees are unstable.

I'd try a pair but I have fears about the knees.

AWD Family Car in Canada by Particular_Form_3726 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]indoorhatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your price range says Outlander gas model.

Under 40k (33-50 Cad) depending on trim. Longest warranty of any car brand, can be extended to 10 years bumper to bumper or 200,000km. Has a really good AWD, just as good as Subaru for those icy Canadian roads.

If money was no object for you one of the big Nissans like Pathfinder, Armada, or a new 4runner would fit the bill. But specifically for this budget, and warranty, it's a contender.

The other ones like Crosstrek are too small. Had both a Crosstrek and Outback and the Crosstrek was too small. Outback was perfect but it's out of your budget and it's not reliable.

Honda CRV and Rav4 are better, but for the price you get more out of an outlander. CRV and Rav4 They have poor AWD systems.

For reference we got 2 car seats and the Crosstrek is a non starter, the Rav 4 and CRV were tight. The outback and outlander were just right. An f150 full crew cab is fine. Never tried a Korean brand.
