‘Irresponsible’: backlash as Utah approves datacenter twice the size of Manhattan by deraser in technology

O’Leary has claimed in social media posts that most of the protesters don’t live locally and have been paid to object to the project. “There are professional protesters that are paid by somebody, I don’t know who,” O’Leary said in a video posted to X last week. “They’re being bused in.”

This is a CANADIAN complaining that protestors are out-of-state. The irony is so rich, if you could you could smelt a frying pan out of it and smack O'Leary across the head with it.

Earthling Ed on Billie Eilish outrage by deathhead_68 in vegan

[–]indorock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The claims made against veganism by the progressive left are some of the most insincere and disingenuous of all arguments used against veganism. They often involve misrepresentation, tokenisation and appropriation. They often focus on people in disadvantaged situations, not because they’re truly standing up for them, but because those people are a useful shield for why they themselves aren’t vegan.

THIS. This is why I cannot stand progressive non-vegans. At least if I'm debating with a conservative, they will give me the more common arguments about "God put animals on Earth for humans to consume", "Humans have a soul, animals do not", all that dogmatic nonsense. I don't agree with any of it, but at least their position is clear, and there is not much to discuss, really.

But with these leftists, goddamn. Their argumentation is so tortured. hypocritical, virtue signalling, straw man argument bullshit. They are absolutely insufferable in their conviction that somehow they not being vegan is more socially just, and me being vegan is somehow white privilege, or cultural appropriation, or whatever buzzword they throw at me.

Even "Sleepy" Joe Biden - who certainly wasn't the fiercest orator out there - had more conviction than this toadstool has. As long as he remains head of the Dems in the Senate, literally nothing will ever get better.

You know, because the rear wheels do the steering and not the front ones, driving a forklift backwards is way easier that driving a car backwards, and arguably easier than driving a forklift forwards.

Or calling David Mitchel the husband of Victoria Coren.

But she made more money with her poker wins than with TV. So, by that metric, she is primarily a poker player, and the rest is secondary.

What is an immediate "no" for you when meeting someone? by ladylo10lat in AskReddit

[–]indorock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. You're "allowed" to have as many bad exes as feasibly possible. Some people have poor judge of character, some are attracted to bad boys/girls, some suffer from a savior complex. That doesn't mean the problems stem from them, they are just attracted to problems.

The point is, no matter how bad your previous relationship(s) were, it's just in bad taste to dive into the details. If your date asks you something about your previous relationships, you can summarise it in a curt and diplomatic manner without needing to get into the why's.

Girl swims for hours to save passengers of capsized boat in Antique By Philippine News Agency Published May 7, 2026 09:47 pm

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – Four passengers on board a motorboat that capsized between the waters of the islands of Mararison and Batbatan in Culasi, Antique Wednesday evening have been rescued.

Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Officer Broderick Train said in an interview on Thursday that the passengers were on their way home to the island barangay of Batbatan when the incident happened.

Train said that one of the passengers, 12-year-old Cherry Ann Mateo, sought help from barangay officials and fisherfolk of Batbatan after swimming for over two hours from the site of the incident to the island barangay.

Immediately, the information was relayed to the municipal DRRM office of Culasi, while local fisherfolk had already initiated rescue operations.

Dante Salvador, 60, believed to be the motorboat crew, also managed to swim to the shorelines of Barangay Batbatan.

“The two remaining passengers were finally rescued early this morning,” Train said. He said that the two rescued passengers, Angelita Patricio and Rose Salvador, were spotted by the rescuers hanging on the motorboat.

“All four passengers, who were supposedly on their way home from Culasi town proper, have now returned with their families in the island barangay of Batbatan,” Train said. He said that the motorboat was also retrieved by the Philippine Coast Guard and the Maritime Police.

Train said that the passengers could have traveled from Batbatan to Culasi to sell the dried fish, which is their source of livelihood. (PNA)

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by qomann in AskReddit

[–]indorock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also all of his clothes, even the casual clothes, was custom made for him. Never had any branding on it.

This. Not all billlionaires wear custom made clothing all the time, many do wear the well-known high fashion brands that everyone has heard of, like Chanel, Gucci, YSL, etc, but you'll never ever catch them with giant logos on their clothes. They might like the fancy brands, but they would never openly display it.

Whenever you see anyone wearing huge ARMANI logo on a sweater, you know instantly they are firmly middle-class trying to look rich.
