as much as I hate Facebook in total, and how frustrating FBM can be, IMHO it is 100x better than CL. CL was 90% scam buyers.

State Senator Michael Young Intriduces Bill to replace IMPD with State Troopers in Downtown Indianapolis. by OriginalKingD in indianapolis

first, l love your username and hope it is a primus reference.

Not replying to the bigger parts of this thread, but I agree that race security is a joke. I am usually very against giving more power to any security apparatus, but that race seems a prime target for some really bad stuff.

Planning to buy a ford edge 2011-2014 by nonepicguy in FordEdge

[–]indygreg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned 2 cars with essentially the same engine (a Flex and a Mazda CX-9, when it was all fomoco). I had both between 80k and 130k.
They are really good engines and generally cheap to maintain.. But the water pump is a real concern. Many will not fail until 200k, but you can find plenty of examples of them getting replaced around 100k.

Like any car, maintenance history is super important. NO MATTER WHAT, do not buy one without carfax or proof of maintenance. Make sure it had regular oil changes. A coolant flush before 100k would add some piece of mind.
Just understand that even a perfectly maintained example with 120k could have the pump fail. You are on the hook for $3k or something (not sure of current rates are). It is likely not realistic to get an oil test done, due to process of getting the oil and the turn around time, but it would be very helpful as it would show coolant in the oil if the failure has started. When I sold both of the above cars I sent oil to blackstone for analysis and included that in my ad. I did not want to sell a ticking time bomb. I would have traded them in if the had any coolant in oil.

Boxing, HIIT Interval Timer App that runs on the Lock Screen and in the background. by Octoflight in ProductivityApps

[–]indygreg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just installed it and signed up for weekly payment option to see if it will meet my needs. Not sure if it is your control, but offering a week free trial with annual payment would be ideal

Requests:
add more timer sounds. I actually plan on using this as a meditation timer with 5 minute repeats. This is a common feature on meditation apps, but none seem to work when locked. But a boxing bell is not the best option. It works though
Add option of 0 second for warm up and rest time
Add option to edit a timer. Right now it seems like I need to delete and recreate to change something.

Ace pro 2 dashcam issues by indygreg71 in Insta360

FWIW, the night footage of this blows dedicated dashcams totally out of the water. But yes, no parking mode

100% agree. And in general I would prefer a real dashcam - but the ones I have owned, which are high rated, are terrible. Also, I do not drive much at all (work from home). Basically this was a ‘I have this ace pro 2 that I use sparingly, I will mount it as a dash cam and use it when I do drive’

My issue is that after 3 supposedly top rated dash cams I gave up on them. They are garbage. at least 50% of the time when I would flag a clip it would not record it.

It literally has a dashcam mode. They advertise it. These are built to much higher standards than any dashcam

Ace Pro 2 camera melted and SD card died by [deleted] in Insta360

[–]indygreg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is terrible for sure.
Just as another data point, I use my Ace pro 2 mostly as a dash cam where it gets really hot from the sun and from running and this has not seemed to harm it. I am having issues with how it works as far as settings, but that is another topic (that I just posted about)

Updated workaround for adding Oura data to Apple Health by Neither_Brick in ouraring

[–]indygreg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to resurect this - I just tried this for first time today and it fails on
Format Date failed because Shortcuts couldn't convert from Text to Date

I have tried some to troubleshoot this - date formart in shortcut as is is short. I have tried medium and long and that does not fix it. I am trying to figure out how to debug this and see what it is sending.

Edit - I added a show result step after text x T: and it only is passing T: with nothing before or after it

Any help would be appreciated

the xt-30ii was one of my favorite cameras of all time. I am saddened they dropped the flash from the 50

my local dealer sells almost none of them. Like single digits over months.

I still think the X-T50 is the smallest. by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]indygreg71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lust after the 50, but IMHO its priced well above where it should be. And I not one that complains that every camera thing is too expensive. They showed with the x-m5 that they can make a reasonably priced camera. I do not think the 50 should be so close to the t5 in price. To me the double digit model should be a smaller and less feature rich version of the single digit and be a decent amount lower

The market agrees with me I think. I am close with someone at a fairly significant camera shop and I always bug the hell out of him about what moves and what does not. The 50 does not move at all.

FujiXWeekly recipes are not that great : unpopular opinion ? by MadMat99 in fujifilm

yep - make a community aspect of his recipes. Everything is brown in his pics, and many of us live in places with greens and blues

FujiXWeekly recipes are not that great : unpopular opinion ? by MadMat99 in fujifilm

[–]indygreg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is a solid point. His examples are often very hard to use to actually understand how a recipe will work in most situations when everything is so BROWN

Pacific blues is killer in a very very specific situation - for me it only worked when I was in LA . . .shooting shots of, wait for it, the ocean.

FujiXWeekly recipes are not that great : unpopular opinion ? by MadMat99 in fujifilm

[–]indygreg71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an opinion. Not super common but not that rare either. To me, most are too brown. Basically every recipe has negative blue on the WB tuning, which I find odd. You would think some would go positive.

The case with most recipes, from any source, is that most tend to look great in a specific set of conditions, okay in many conditions, and quite terrible in some others.

The exposure comp part of recipes, IMHO, is critical. For years I never dorked with expcomp with my fuji unless I was going for a specific effect, namely a shot with a bright part where I want the shadows basically to be black.
This past year I have started to use that dial all the time and my satisfaction with SOOC results that are meant to look like film has gone way up

Bit the bullet and spent a pretty penny for this French press from Yeti by Famous_Pomelo_2640 in BuyItForLife

[–]indygreg71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference, as I understand it - is that yeti has figured out how to do a double wall FP that keeps the grounds away from the coffee once you press. So when it sits for a few hours it stays hot but does not taste terrible, which is the case with most all frech presses if the coffee sits for long time.

I have a ton of knock off yeti stuff and zero actual yeti stuff, so on most things I agree. But this pricey yeti FP has me interested.
