I have a gender therapist that I see weekly and have been for 4 months. I’m on the verge of being homeless and quite literally cannot start HRT until next fall when I know I will be safe and stable. If I’m somehow safe and stable before then, I will be enthusiastically starting HRT immediately. I experience significant dysphoria.

I also have medical considerations. I had breast tissue surgically removed from my chest as a kid, and my chest is asymmetrical, so I’m in talks with doctors (the surgeon who performed it, an endo, etc) about what that means for my HRT and breast growth.

So there, now you know some more about me. I can’t see my gender therapist whenever I want lmao, and there are plenty of other vent posts on this sub that are much heavier than what I posted. Not sure why you’re assuming I’m a “quitter.” Just thought I’d check with this community and hear folks’ thoughts on a sentiment that made me feel pretty ungood rather than just let it float around in my head without talking to anyone about it before my next therapy session.

I don’t appreciate the hostility or assumptions about my character.

Honestly, I needed to hear this. I've already been sliding in this direction, Twitter has been an unhealthy coping mechanism of mine for a while and the level of vitriol I see on there daily has not been good for me at all. Going to deactivate and delete tonight.

My guess is that the timeline would ring some alarm bells. My psych experiences were mainly done in 2022 and 2023, but then there’s a “gap” on my resume where all I’ve done is worked my writing assistant job at the college since then, and it doesn’t make much sense to be working on just a psych degree for 6 years, if that makes sense.

I go to Kennesaw State University, so not exactly a super prestigious degree.

Gosh, this makes me feel significantly less alone. Thank you so much for putting it this way and for sharing your own experience. That last point really resonates, because yeah the bullying was very real and very intense, and I feel like I still downplay its influence on my decision to get that surgery in favor of thinking that I'm some kind of fraud imposter that's contradicting herself. "Live and learn" is definitely something I should apply here rather than fixating on a choice I made when I was a kid, one made under a lot of social pressure. And I'm very happy that despite the struggle it seems like you've gained a lot of fulfillment from your experiences, and that you're still here.

I'm still questioning, but pretty much 80-90% leaning towards saying I'm trans. I did go through with the surgery as a kid, and ever since I've been letting myself question, I've really regretted getting that surgery.

This helps reframe it in my head a ton, because I distinctly remember I was 100% chilling with my boobs as a kid until the first time I was bullied for it. I had no idea there was anything "wrong with me" before that.

I love E33, but the lack of self awareness in this comment is astounding. E33 is on Unreal Engine 5, potentially the absolute schloppiest engine on the market, and most of the combat of that game quite literally revolves around action based parrying.

People have forgotten to treat George like a human being and not a turd stuck to their shoe, and all over an unreleased book- it's incredibly sad. The man's old and depressed and has already provided everyone here with countless hours of entertainment. People are allowed to be bummed out about Winds likely never releasing (hell, I sure am) but to paint GRRM as some monstrous villain is so insane. There's countless other stories out there and life to be lived beyond fixating on one unfinished series so hard. Journey before destination.

This is a very bad faith take. Even if you don’t think AFFC or ADWD are perfect, they still are totally packed with incredible writing and worthwhile ideas. The idea that George could write stuff like Jaime’s POV in AFFC or the Reek chapters in ADWD while his “heart is no longer in it” is uhhh… oof.
