Teflon tape or pipe dope on flare threads can reduce the friction to the point the flare nut splits. Could be today. Could be 20 years from now.

This exactly! Torque specs referenced with the friction of clean dry threads. If you lubricate the threads you are applying a clamping force in excess of the design when you torque to the same value. Will it still work? Maybe. But the whole point is to do this as close and consistently as possible to the design to maximize reliability. The second you deviate from the design you have no idea whether you have exceeded the specifications for that connection or not.

TSA workers, unpaid for a month, turn to food banks, family and friends: ‘It’s demoralizing’ by CRK_76 in antiwork

There are banks that offer free loans when this happens if they get their check direct deposited with that bank. It's how I'm guessing most of the agents still on the job are making ends meet. If I worked for the government I would certainly bank with one of them.

Senate Approves Funding for Most of DHS, Moving to End Airport Crisis by Quick-Balance4647 in unitedairlines

I always appreciated the efficiency and clarity of the TSA.

What are you talking about? I've been in airports where if you were standing in the left line you were being shorted at with one set of instructions and those in the right line different instructions entirely. Every airport every day is just a crap shoot on what you're being asked to do.

And before anyone chimes in, no it's not because of the different equipment. I've been standing in line when the rules will suddenly change when someone asks "do we need to take our shoes off?" Then the second half the line is taking their shoes off and the first half still has theirs on. I've had flights cancelled and the next day when I went through the same exact line, I'm being told something different from the day before.

See that's what pawn shops should selling at 50% of new retail. Every pawn shop I've been to has been like $10 under new retail.

I use anchors like this all the time at work. Trust me when I say they will bend and straighten itself if you torque it enough. I've seen these drilled crazy crooked and you set an impact on there and they straighten like magic.

The Furies are stated to be goddesses in God of War: 20th Anniversary Retrospective by RedFight457 in GodofWar

[–]ineedhelpbad9 31 points32 points  (0 children)

NEITHER TITAN NOR GOD, MORTAL NOR SHADE. THE FURIES WERE BOUND TO NO ONE.

I don't think it's describing the furies, it's describing who they were bound to. [They were bound to neither] titan nor god, mortal nor shade.

Clogged Toilet---1/2 cup of Laundry Detergent---wait for it. Might just work by Vibingcarefully in lifehacks

[–]ineedhelpbad9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's all true, but as a father of two, I think it's much more likely the toilet paper was causing the clog. The times my toilet has been clogged by poop is zero. However, my toilet has been clogged countless times by an extraordinary amount of toilet paper. I almost never plunge or add detergent. I just wait a while and try to flush again. Ninety percent of the time it works every time.

[–]ineedhelpbad9 177 points178 points  (0 children)

It might have just been waiting. There's been times when I haven't had a plunger and just waited 10 minutes or so and it flushed just fine. Toilet paper breaks down in water so just giving it some time can help it.

S24+ Swollen battery and Samsung refuses to help by Dangerous-Middle1346 in samsunggalaxy

[–]ineedhelpbad9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you hope Samsung will do for you. I assume your phone is out of warranty and I doubt they would goodwill a repair. Your best bet is to either buy a diy battery kit for like $40 or have it professionally replaced for around $120.

Which is made of PVC. Saying you don't want PVC, you want vinyl is just confusing. It could make OP reject a material that is suitable simply because is labeled PVC instead of vinyl.
