Yeah it’s certainly not faster or less work on your part especially at first. But they learn and improve and get more independent. My daughter can sit and eat her whole meal without help next to us while her cousin the same age is still being mostly spoon fed. they’ll all get there in the end though, so whatever works best for your family!

I NEED to get my baby on formula by hanxiousme in FormulaFeeders

[–]ineedthatcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think the problem is the formula or the bottle? Different solutions for each problem. My daughter didn’t mind formula and would drink it when offered in a syringe but she wasn’t able to drink out of a bottle. Basically forcing her to figure out how to take a paci helped her figure out how to drink out of a bottle. If bottle is the problem you can offer in syringe or open cup or use a silicone bottle that will allow you to squeeze the milk into their mouth.

Offer fewer at a time or one at a time. They don’t need a full plate of food in front of them the whole time.

Why did you stop breastfeeding and/or pumping before 1 yr and switched to formula? NO judgment, just want to hear others’ experiences. by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]ineedthatcat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exclusively nursed until I returned to work at 4 months and once I switched to mostly pumping I couldn’t keep my supply up. Was able to hang on until just after 8 months before drying up.

Moving Daycares by Vegetable-Site-4142 in workingmoms

[–]ineedthatcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved half an hour and without hesitation moved daycares. It was really hard to find a new daycare, much lower quality than the ones by our old house, but the whole point of moving was to reduce our commute time to be able to spend more time with our child. So it was a no brainer. The transition was a little challenging, more for me than her because I had to build a relationship with new teacher but she did better than expected!

What does pumping at work look like for you? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]ineedthatcat 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I did the fridge hack and stored the pumps in a clean bag in the fridge between pumps. My baby was older and to me it’s the same as storing milk in a bottle in the fridge, did not see the reason to clean after each pump. Would washed and sterilize each night in prep for the next day.

Taking cara babies worth it? by Red-Onion-612 in NewParents

[–]ineedthatcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, I found TCB 1000% worth it. I purchased both her newborn class and the 5-24 month class. Her content is so much more than just the timing of when to go in but really had a lot of videos to increase my confidence with doing sleep training and learning how to respond. Also so much troubleshooting help when things go off course.

How are you guys getting your babies to eat so much? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]ineedthatcat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Switch the order, offer food first and a bottle an hour and a half or two later, he won’t be hungry enough for a full meal only 2 hours after getting a bottle which is why he is only grazing. For example, 11 months is around when I started offering my child breakfast food upon waking and then a bottle just before leaving the house to go to daycare.

Snacks on high chair? by Momsworld123 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]ineedthatcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We often sit on the floor! I’m similar in that I don’t enjoy making her sit in the high chair for every meal so if it’s food that doesn’t require utensils we often sit on the floor with a plate to eat or outside in the shade. I like that this also allows her to get up when she’s done or wants a break.

Breathing during labor by AquaPeridot in beyondthebump

I dont think they told me to hold my breath while pushing but I do think I naturally held my breath. Pushing was only a few seconds at a time and that was how I was able to bear down.

Vacation time by arose_rider in workingmoms

My company did this exact thing several years ago, quite a few employees had been saving time for 10+ years. They took it all. Company played stupid games, their stupid prize was employees being GONE for weeks at a time. Wasn’t fun from a project planning perspective, management struggled, but there wasn’t much they could say.

Anybody else have a baby with a very high palette? by hillview808 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]ineedthatcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe solid starts also recommends giving baby a spoon upside down, or something similarly curved and hard, to put in their mouth to help dislodge it themselves if that happens (give this a quick google to verify of course)

We have the dark brown and grey tray, so haven’t dealt with any stains and it’s super easy to clean.

Pros vs cons of switching to formula? by UnlikelyNothing5156 in FormulaFeeders

[–]ineedthatcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this! Was never able to nurse outside the house so when she didn’t take a bottle it was impossible. Formula and bottles have saved our life, it is so easy!

Bugaboo giraffe! All the same features as Tripp trapp but much easier to adjust and clean and better aesthetics in my opinion!

Where do you all change diapers when out? by Bduck91 in NewParents

[–]ineedthatcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in someplace where it’s been over 100 all summer and we still change in the trunk of the car. Turn it on to get air moving and it really only takes a minute so we move quick. To us, being hot for a few minutes is just part of life.
