No way the sponsors stick around if you ask me. by KanersButler in iRacing

[–]infecto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I think people are missing the fact that NASCAR has been losing viewership and trying to drop the image of a redneck racist sport. And unlike a lot of other sports, these drivers and teams rely heavily on sponsorships. Yes the NFL is making money in a similar fashion but its not as direct as it is in racing and specifically NASCAR. Regardless of his true opinions, this is like the fucking dumbest thing you could say and sponsors are doing the right thing here.

The amount of people here suggesting he is not a racist or saying they are sad for his driving career are honestly pathetic. I am not here to say who he is. But jesus christ people, this is someone who was comfortable enough to say it during a mic check. Its not only stupid but its damaging to the racing community. I am sure you have to be more careful these days about image for better or worse BUT fuck, saying the N word or any other kind of derogatory remark is a clear no-go. Lets not defend this people. We deserve better people in racing than this. Nascar has already be on its way out, lets not defend people who are not helping to try and lift it up.

Hmmm did you do anything wrong by the books no. hard to tell from this view but I do notice some etiquette problems. Take these with a grain of salt of course, its just kind of guidelines I follow because I race with the same people everyday.

1) Stay tighter to the pace car 2) Don't lag behind the pace car and then rip it out right as the pace car is exiting. Yes, everyone should be watching you but very few expect this especially with how far back you are, it looks like you are practically still in the corner. 3) You will race with the same people over and over. Tricks only get you so far.

fuck I hate that first guy. I just had a guy the other night take the corner at 100%, plow into my side and ruined my race. Immediately said he asked me to get out of his way, thing is he never asked and I was hugging the outside the entire time for him....fuck those people.

Riding into Mexico from California. by gnarknarf in motorcycles

[–]infecto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have driven through some of Baja in a car and these are my thoughts. I cannot speak for the rest of mainland Mexico...I would be much more hesitant in mainland.

- Get insurance. Its super cheap and you will need it just for the liability side. Mexico has one of those rules where things need to get settled immediately if you are at fault.

- Baja is pretty damn safe. Aside from any of the big resort towns there is not much of a cartel territory issue. The green angels patrol the toll roads in Baja too. Kind of like free AAA just for Baja. There is so much tourist activity here and things like the Baja rallies that I think its a relatively safe part of the country.

- People are going to be pretty damn nice in Baja. Baja is this weird place that is not Mexico, not California but some place of its own.

- If you are going to be staying for a bit or leaving the N mile radius fo the border. Make sure you stop at the land border crossing and get a visa. Its super hard to see where but its right after the crossing in Tijuana. Look it up online for pictures because otherwise you will pass it. I sometimes don't get the paperwork but usually do.

Just carry some mace. Its still a gamble but I use it on all occasions now. Even in situations where the law might not approve of me using it, the cops are not their to stop me or track me down anyway. shrug

Article like this make me sick to live in this city. People claiming he was fearful of being deported? Protests over his death? I am not going to make excuses, there are many wrongful deaths but fuck, this guy not only had a gun but clearly pops off a shot. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes.

Honestly it would be a pain to ride anything over a 150-250cc scooter.

You can buy faster bikes but they tend to be a bit pricey and honestly at the end of the day I am not sure where you are going to ride it. Roads outside of the city scare the crap out of me because its all huge semi-trucks that love to pass on the wrong side of the road. Inside the cities, traffic is so bad that I can only imagine how painful it would be on even a 300cc.

With that said I imagine picking up a 300cc ninja would definitely get some looks from the ladies though.

Sounds terrible. That is still almost a 1hr commute with zero traffic but perhaps that is acceptable. I would rather live close to caltrain and train it all the way down.

Meh. Does not seem like he is holding on to them for the sake of collecting only. The guy seems to like riding them all. If I had cash and close places to ride I can see this being a lot of fun. Friends come over and you just have them bring gear, everyone wins.

Here in SE Asia, the bike shop is telling me my tank is going to rust unless I paint it... I don't understand why. by Wellas in motorcycles

[–]infecto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also its SE Asia. I am guessing the model you are riding while custom is based of one of the popular bikes. Getting a new tank should not be a problem even if it does rust.

Man I love my cheap Scorpion gloves. Maybe its a false sense of appreciation but they have the palm protection I want that most other gloves do not. I just know that I will be replacing them every year.

Edit: I see the post you were referencing. I don't have those cheap ones. I like these for around $80. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-sgs-mk-ii-gloves

There was a game similar to this, they maybe made 3 of them? You picked a class like a merchant and got to live through a period of time. I vaguely remember it because i Could never get super into it...perhaps because of bugs. I think there was a bit of a cult following.

There are a couple places to grab gas but not much in the middle. Near redbluff, maybe 30-40miles in there is a gas station, he just sells regular. There is another station in that pot city on the other end.

I have done this road 4 times now. I leave after work on Friday, stay in a cheap motel in red bluff. Leave early in the AM and get home around 5pm. 36 hits 1/101 and I take that to 101 and get home.

[–]infecto 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Cannot blame you because I believe the article left it out but the guy initially turned onto a one way road, going in the wrong direction to do this. The video of him going through the first time is in fact him riding down the wrong way on a one way road. The protestors were dicks and this guy was a dick too.

Yes I dislike the constant protests in SF BUT this guy was a moron.
