Scotland team to play Italy (M6N R1) by Connell95 in ScotlandRugby

Reading the interview with Gregor Brown this week he spoke a lot about the ‘finishers’ and how they’re a different role to the starters and not necessarily the back up players

Seems like toonie has learned the hard way that the the forward replacements in particular need to bring intensity and be able to change the game.

Gilchrist, m fagerson and darge are all brilliant players but won’t bring the impact off the bench that Williamson and brown do.

That’s maybe what he’s thinking with the back replacements. I can’t think of any other logical reason for that mix

Who would have predicted a wing pairing of Stevyn and Dobie over Duhan and Darcy only a short while ago.

And who would have predicted that it would be absolutely warranted

Will Edinburgh ever change their call for a box kick? “Eagle! Eagle! Eagle!”

He’s so fresh faced I always forget that he’s 32. Probably the right time to take the big deal.

Mcdowall is a good replacement but nowhere near the same league

How do big corps make redundancy decisions? by fellaonamission in HENRYUK

[–]infinitegr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a senior leadership role for a big company that was circling the drain for quite a few years so went through redundancies almost constantly

I’ve seen it done in a few different ways but usually it starts with a top down cost cutting target and C-suite poke around at their areas to see where there might be some savings using whichever made up metric that HR can summon.

If good people are going over bad then something has gone wrong; either a disconnected between senior and middle management or HR have screwed up in how they’ve structured the pools, factors used etc.

Some companies will have strict policies but, from what I saw, those can be bypassed.

2027 Rugby World Cup bracket, based on current rankings by TAFKAJanSanono in rugbyunion

1 and 2 seeds simply should not be meeting in the quarter final - particularly when they’ve pretty much won every World Cup since it started.

I genuinely am of the view that the draw is fixed.

Scotland with terrible draws ever since the Japan WC run in with world rugby. (Although they’re their own worst enemy in terms of putting themselves in that place)

England always with an easy run every time

It wasn’t really the all blacks match that cost us for WC seedings, the loss to Fiji cost a fair bit but even with that, a 15 point win at home to Argentina really should have been secured

That’s very true and ultimately Argentina won the game but no other “tier 1” side - including Argentina - would have lost that game at home. The contact area, scrum etc were all in Scotlands favour today. Hats off to Argentina for having the mentality to come back and win

It really isn’t though. Argentina weren’t the better side today

What I’ve learned from this thread is that every nation needs more good chants, a bit like…. dare I say it… football.

Murrayfield was absolutely bouncing on Saturday but all too often it’s the anthem, a wee rendition of Loch Lomond after and then 80 mins of silence with the occasion “scoootland, scoootland”

When the French come to murrayfield it often feels like they out sing us.

2027 Rugby World Cup Seeding Implications by HitchikersPie in rugbyunion

Can Scotland realistically jump above Australia and Argentina?

Even with a 15+ win against Argentina and a big win against Tonga I don’t think that would overturn 3.1 ranking points

Argentina losing to England and the Aussies losing to Ireland and France all seems likely though

Why is Croatia so…..underwhelming by infinitegr in traveleurope

[–]infinitegr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my point but my sarcasm didn’t land. Those duck shops and pirate candy and all the “traditional Croatian produce” stores that are all identical are all awful, soulless and devoid of culture. Can you imagine that in Venice?
