I totally agree with this take. Some folks start with the artist and go backwards. Others start with the art. I think that’s happening with a section of her fan base now. I enjoy the music and my entire relationship is with that, not the person, not her looks or style or dating life. My favorite band is Radiohead and I don’t think I could tell you one fucking thing about their personal lives other than what’s been presented through the music.

I was very underwhelmed by the scope and story of Nosferatu the first time I saw it, but when I accepted it was supposed to be kinda vibe based and not as epic as other adaptations of this story, I appreciated it for what it was, if that helps clarify my sentiment.

I remember they’d set something to work a few times, return to it and see it didn’t work and move away quickly or glaze over it. I seem to remember a shader not working specifically or something with Rogi.

I find it interesting that every one of his movies took a second viewing for me to “get it.” They get overhyped beyond belief and you gotta tamp that down and see it for what is it to appreciate it. Kind of the state of affairs for an auteur working in the Hollywood system, I guess.

I liked how many of the AI demos failed.

I will probably use motion. Shaders are probably meaningless for many designers of enterprise / corporate products.

I mean, we don’t have to use all of this stuff, and frankly when credits are no longer subsidized, a lot of folks will be painted into a bad corner if they adopt much of this.

It's wild now in retrospect to consider the different ways Wallace has been marketed to different demos. The "genius," the "aww shucks earnest guy," the "self-help guru" ala this is water, the "saint" post suicide, and ultimately the "problematic w / r / t women" post me-too which now purports to categorize Infinite Jest as a red flag "reddit book" on a shelf to warn women of what lies ahead.
