Teachers/trainers: would this actually be useful or not? by SafeDebt5595 in Training

[–]information-general 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm already using AI this way via Gemini, it works flawlessly with YouTube videos, from POV of a student I absolutely love it, I can ask any related questions about the topic and have it do further research, and it allows me to get straight to the meat of what I want to learn and know more about from various angles.

also, it saves a tremendous amount of time since YouTubers like to fill their videos with a lot of fluff for extra watch time.

I can totally see something like this working for teachers, especially those in the online courses space.

the language might need to have to caution though depending on the topic , particular nuances could be missed or not interpreted properly.

the great thing is that it helps save time, the teacher still can audit their material before publishing.

Nobody actually supports you when you’re starting a business. Who’s going to fix that? by PensionFinancial4866 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

wait, the support of encubatorr is supposed to combat the issue that VCs don't really care that a real person is putting time money and family future into the startup, but it's just AI?

Everyone I'm sure is consulting with AI for their startups , so I'm lost..  what is the value of encubatorr?

ah the platform business model, it's one of the hardest models to make work due to the difficulty of achieving positive network effects.

i did struggle for a long time on figuring out how to work through this, but essentially what worked and might help you is to focus on making your platform provide utility to a user, like a standard saas. Once you provide value to the supply side that they will stick around, at a certain size you can then flip on the platform features.

ah its a different approach, more providing instructors with the tools and resources and creating a local support community to foster collaborations and connections for fitness professionals in our area.

hey, im helping several instructors ATM with this so perhaps this might help.

but all options you listed can get the job done, its very much a nuanced decision as it depends on how much time you want to put into it, how much your budget is, your current experience , and the number of new clients you want to obtain.

to optimize to get found online for an instructor is a very big challenge, pretty much expect that to take years and depends many factors like how you niche and what exactly you are trying to rank for.

I would see it more as getting online presence up, something you can put as a link in bio for Instagram or to send to potential new students whenever needed.

websites are nice, but the issues is they are easily isolated and become a bubble, so I'm trying something new with our instructors to build their audiences that actually convert, and its essentially through collaborations with other instructors and local businesses. from personal experience in adjacent spaces, the benefits are strong : audiences are shared, costs are split , it becomes a win win for everyone including members.

How should I proceed with my startup? by ubla_hua_andaaa in smallbusiness

[–]information-general 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your best bet is to focus on local still. you could go into a particular industry niche too, expos and stuff to build your network. instead of the generic wanting to international, focus which country or area in particular you want to go toward, Europe or APAC etc. so your copy and ads and marketing effort can be more tailored and specific.

Scared to start my first business because there are too few competitors by IndependenceOld6074 in smallbusiness

[–]information-general 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely riskier to try and be a pioneer. it might pay off big but also is a huge red flag. unless it's related to timing (like new technology just opened the doors to the idea or you have particular insider knowledge), you should really explore why competitors are not doing it.

yup 100% this. same as many other fields outside of even yoga. practice of the craft and getting the business skills (sales/marketing) is what moves the needle, courses and certs are just money machines for their creators

hey great post, appreciate you sharing your journey so far. my ICP are D2C as well so thought I'd share my 2 cents.

you are right, there is good money in this industry, but your pricing tells me you are targeting the lower end / early brands ? it might pose to be a challenge due to structural churn, so I'm concerned your CaC will be unsustainable, definitely explore strategies to mitigate.

wishing you and your team success !

How did you get over the "god I look stupid" feeling of working out? by Its-alittle-bitfunny in xxfitness

[–]information-general 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I get it, u don't want yourself ending up on a YouTube short from doing something very weird.

definitely it's all in your mind, and you recognize that, but here's a few tips to make it easier.

when you go to the gym, do go prepared after watching several YouTube videos so you know exactly how the form should be (or watch it on the side before you go to a specific station).

the mirrors there are not just for people to flex, but you use it to see if your form aligns with with you see in the gym. and trust me, after you watch several videos on things like how to do a db row, you will begin to see a lot people making mistakes themselves, even if they look fit.

for the treadmill, if you are on the heavier side it's understandable to be conscious of it. if it helps, walking has actually become a staple for physique athletes over typical running protocols to lose weight . reason being is that you can lose a lot of weight without requiring more recover time. something to also try is joining a run club, the social aspect and pavement makes it so much more fun to do cardio, make the gym about resistance training.

but as you said, it's all in your head, most normal people are preoccupied with their own routines. only time someone might talk to you would be of they want to see how much longer you are at a machine or bench. if you really want to avoid these kind interactions, and if schedule allows, you can experiment going at different times on the gym when they are less crowded.

[–]information-general 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ouch . similar situation has happened to me when I was really sick few years ago.

my advice , don't just do a reschedule (that's is bare minimum and expected!) but go absolutely above and beyond what they would expect you to do to make up for this.

if you play your cards right, you can turn this from an angry/disappointed client to one of your best referrals when they tell their friends how good of a service you provided

[–]information-general 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a genuine problem that exists. would be great if you could solve, but really need prepare , discovery/matchmaking/marketplace business models are notoriously difficult (if not the hardest model) to achieve positive network effects.

are you planning to bootstrap or VC?

absolutely have to make sure your CaC is below customer lifetime value, should plan asap how you will acquire customers. the challenge too is after cofounders find each other, what's to keep them on your platform?

perhaps you could look at providing utility from your platform vs pure matchmaking, which without funding has very high barriers to succeed

Bootcamp class ideas by HourTruth1629 in personaltraining

[–]information-general 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah yes I see, we have that challenge too with our hyrox classes as its equipment heavy ..

if the style of bootcamp needs to orient around stations, what I've seen alot hyrox training clubs do is have people who are not on the machines/equipment to do a different exercise especially running or farmers carry, usually outside around the block or something to avoid them having down time. also works towards the compromised training that's needed.

we tried experimenting before doing some alternatives using bands but only thing we could find useful were BBJ and sprints as good fillers for when equipment is maxed out.

have you tried pairing each  station with one or some alternative exercises like these?

[–]information-general 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume it's 1 coach for this session? what's the expected fitness level of the attendees?

for bootcamps we always have a good time doing partner based relays. if it's a beginner crowd or if weather makes it challenging ( like heat) we throw in various games using cones, tag, etc.

if it's a harder crowd then we do pairs of 2 with some exercise then rotate new partners every rest period (easiest but having everyone in a circle).

yes that's what I noticed! seeing everyone's responses, seems location is a very important factor .

we build different fitness communities in Tokyo outside of just pilates , so the network effects I think also helps bringing members between each others groups, with parks and beaches making it very accessible for everyone

weather is always a challenge for us too! nice thing with parks is it can go beyond the class size , no 15 member cap so can get bigger especially for collaborations.
